Was a decent place to work
Unified Telecommunications Team Lead (Current Employee) – Tempe, AZ – April 18, 2019
Prior to transformation, State Farm was a good workplace. The only drawback was the State Farm "nice" culture, where leadership never held employees accountable for poor performance. After the restructure of the IT areas, agile methodology was enforced, especially for teams that did not and still do not fit this model. Employees who were lackluster should have applied for positions but instead too many were placed in positions that were and still not a good fit.
The leadership path to make it to at least management is based on who you know, and how much you showcase yourself instead of the skills demonstrated to manage a team while understanding team dynamics, the product itself and industry trends. Managers are shuffled from different areas with no knowledge of the work their team does.
The company is struggling to keep up with competitors, in technology, talent acquisition and compensation pay/benefits.
