Too much change
Sales Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Richardson, TXFebruary 1, 2019
I enjoyed working at State Farm for about 5 years. I was in the sales department. The last year I worked there I had 3 different managers all who were completely different. The last one was dishonest and it was frustrating to work with him when he would say one thing to you, but a minute later say something completely different to another.

They say they want to be transparent, so they let you know that they are making changes, but then changes don't happen the way they said they were going to happen.

Management in the Sales Contact Center is sub par. Directors are micro-managers and don't hold all leaders accountable for their work or even showing up.

Sales Manager (Current Employee) –  Ridgeland, MSDecember 26, 2018
The specific agents' offices have the autonomy to succeed or fail based on their own merits. The agents and sales managers set the sales goals. Some push for sales, others do not.
Pros
Excellent working conditions
Cons
Pay could be better

I owe State Farm and my agent the world as it gave me the opportunity to really grow from a college student into a well rounded manager. This experience continues to show me new ways to help a team grow.

Agents are the only ones that make any money on your hard work. State farm treats you like dirt just wants life insurance and New auto. Agents are the ones that make the money and don't care about sales staff. State farm corp are a bunch of Bullies and will not respect you.

Pay is probably on the lower end of industry average, but some agents offer opportunity to train to be self-employed agent. Goals are set by the agent and can vary depending on what accolades the agent wants to achieve.

Great Brand
Sales Manager (Current Employee) –  Portland, ORSeptember 28, 2017
Experience working with company has been fine. Great people! My work mainly consisted of working for an Agent who was no longer engaged. Many barriers to success. A lot more micromanagement then what would be expected as the agents are not employees of the company.

Sales Manager (Current Employee) –  Crystal Lake, ILSeptember 24, 2017
State Farm is a great company to work for. I only worked in individual agent offices which feel more like a small business. Agents are hit or miss to work for, I got lucky with two agents that I worked for.
Pros
Flexiable schedules
Cons
Not a lot of upward mobility within office

I'm here for the customers making sure they feel secure every single day. Knowing they can call and make sure they can speak to someone they understand clearly is the key to satisfying your clients.
