Started at 18 years old. Retired with benefits b cause grandfathered in. Anyone hired after 1995, there is no guarantee. That's sad b cause the benefits made up for lower salaries vs private sector w same title. I will say working for State, job seemed more secure than private where they can let u go just cause in this State.

If you are Merit depends on years of service or it was that way. Start off with 9.50 month, than after 10 yrs goes to 11.25, 15 yrs goes to 13.25 where u remain til retire or leave. Temps and seasonal do not get benefits of sick of vaca or holiday pay. Just hourly wage, but u work just as hard!
