I agree with the person that said most have a B.S. degree. One of the coworkers I worked with had a degree in English!! This is a Psych/social work/criminal justice field (CPS/DCS/Probation). I always felt like the training the State gave me was a form of ‘guidelines’ to follow in the field. But, my college education has me prepared for the job. I was constantly in awe that the State didn’t follow its own guidelines by hiring someone in the human service field! Definitely agree that ‘you know someone in the Dept, you get in easier.’

The response time depends on the county. Certain counties have a different system and are slow to respond. I have waited up to three weeks on a background check while others are returned in a day.

The hiring process takes longer than usual. Longer than any I've ever experienced and always has. On average, 1 month, maybe 2.
