Stay away from Spartanburg. The manager and co-manager don't work together which makes training a nightmare. Customers overheard the way the store manager was talking to me and had to call home office. nothing was done about being talked to like I was dog. Don't be fooled it is not a family atmosphere and there is a good reason why this job continues to get reposted--it is a horrible place to work. management is demeaning and cruel. No amount of money is worth the dehumanization I experienced at the Spartanburg Store,

If you are hired as a cashier you receive training. If you are hired for the sales floor there is no formal training. The department managers & leads are so overworked (setting sales, scanning for markdowns, resetting the departments every month, doing customer service shifts and dealing with a ridiculous amount of corporate directives) they don't have time to train new employees. The majority of sales floor positions are part-time, you need to be very pro-active and ask lots of questions. If you are not comfortable being assertive in asking questions multiple times to get answers do not apply to Stein Mart.

It doesn't take long to get hired. Maybe the only thing that is a lengthy process is the background check which is, understandably, a good step to take time on.
