I worked for stop and shop for over a decade while I was in highschool, college and looking for a new job post college. The greatest pro is the ability to work around your other obligations such as school and make money on the side. I think the most negative part would be the pay structure. After 10 years of incremental raises I was making only 50 cents more than people hired fresh off of the streets. The company did not feel the need to compensate their more experienced associates and wondered why people would leave for other opportunities elsewhere.
Flexibile work life balance
Stop and Shop is not a good company to work for. I have been there almost 3 years without any raises. They raised the minimum wage to 13:50 per hour. Now there is no raises until minimum wage goes up to 15:00 an hour. So if somebody is hired tomorrow they get the same pay as somebody that has been there 3 to 5 Years. Management always seems to have a problem if you are not constantly busy. If you do good work or great work the employees dont get along with you because they feel inferior. Its a no win situation.
The managers at the Flushing/ Whitestone location do not respect boundaries and the fact that you have obligations and a life outside of here. I’m in school and tend to focus my schedule around school. They don’t listen, and threaten to “let you go” over if you don’t cede to their demands
Union shop so to maintain stability gives up more every contract. Great starter job to get retail experience but not a long term answer like years past.
Sunday optional, time and a half. Benefits are good compared to other retailers
Communication with company objectives, starting salry

Apply somewhere else literally anything is better than this. Your schedule is never the same, the days and hours are all over the place they will change your schedule the day of. You have no support from your AP management. You get paid little to nothing, people are with the company almost 20 years barely making 19 dollars. You’re never allowed to have weekends off. They make you use your personal car to go store to store to store. You can travel to a crazy amount of stores in one day. Your AP offices will most likely be makeshift offices with very old and outdated equipment that law enforcement will laugh at you when you give them footage. Your team will be changing all the time because many people don’t work for this company for a long time. Your benefits aren’t that good even though you pay a lot of money into them. You don’t have any paid time off until you hit your one year mark. They deny most of your requests off and barely tell you.
Low salary poor quality of life
Starting out you can make good pocket money that you can spend back in the grocery store but hey you get a discount well it’s only 5% and the gas savings are alright.
Flexible with work schedule
Hours are heavily influenced by favoritism
The company itself is a good company to work for. The benefits are great. Management seems good and caring for the most part. Just the difficult part us dealing with customers who are difficult and sometimes even mean. Just need to have a stiff upper lip working with all kinds of people
Great benefits and flexible hours
Working with the public can be challenging

Jobs at Stop and Shop Supermarket
Must be very assertive. Learn how to multitask easily . Worked here for the company 10 yrs now. Moved countless of times. Have to get used to getting transferred. Overall I moved up in the ranks from just clerk associate to a union manager.
Benefits ; flexibility
Lack of help
I am currently a few months in with stop and shop, my experience at the beginning was ok nothing to major. But overtime as I stayed the job got consistently poor. The overall thing that makes me frustrated with the job is the management. The management barley supports you or cares for you, mostly through out the day they just yell at you for making a minor mistake. Sometimes there are days where there are barley any people working and you have to do most things in your own. They still give breaks of course by law, but they don’t like it when you stay more than 30 seconds pasts your break time. But anyways job is good for teens but I recommend teens or first time employers to the company to probably look for another job of it’s too stressful. What I can guarantee is that they will throw you under the bus. Sometimes they give more hours or days to other Co-Workers than you. But the job has flexible hours and times.
Good Pay, Flexible timing
There are a lot of problems with this company. First there is virtually no chance of being made full-time, there is an unbelievably amount of favoritism, some employees are allowed to slack off and gossip while others do all the work and get promoted. Second promotions do not give raises. It’s unionized so positions are supposed to go on seniority but somehow people who have only been in the job a few weeks, and are still paying initiation fees manage to get promoted over long time members. Interesting how that works.
Vacation after a year
Tell you there are advancement oppurtunitys then forget all about you. Hours are tight want everything done with a unrealistic amount of help. Ok job to hold you over for a real job. Get good insurance and paid time off that is only benefit of working v here
There is minimal support from management Its almost impossible to get full time even if you often work full time hours Forget weekend time off No extra support for working extra time or addotional duties Only a beginners job at best
Most co workers are greT at helping each other out
Lunch breaks are not paid. Constant watching by management with only negative remarks
