Very entertaining and rewarding job

Featured review

I love our residents, and love hearing their many stories about their past; they amaze me each and every day! My managers and my coworkers have been extremely helpful and supportive during my time here. I absolutely love working at StoryPoint, and would recommend their wide variety of job positions to anybody that asked! I hope to stay for a long time!

Review

Nice Place to work. Caregivers and staff members throughout the entire community are very nice. Pay is decent. Management tries their hardest to take care of their staff.

Could be better

There was a week for training and that’s it. Had good trainers but if you wanted to ask for help, people would occasionally deny you and throw you with a resident alone if you aren’t comfortable with them. Management here is a joke, they give you write ups for no reason. It seems like they hardly care about their employees, they have ridiculous mandates, 2am mandates are terrible. They have people in management who shouldn’t be in it. If they seemed to care more about their employees they’d probably be able to keep them. If you value a personal life, don’t work here

Pros

Eat lunches with residents

Cons

Management, mandates

Terrible place to work

My first day there I was basically thrown to the wolves without any training and was left to my own devices. I repeatedly was the only caregiver to show up for my shift. Management has no idea what they are doing nor do they care about the reasoning behind their extremely high turnover rate (hint: it’s because they run their employees to the bone and overwork them until they get burnt out) I plan to quit eventually. I do not recommend this job.

Pros

food is good and they let us eat

Cons

Literally everything else

A lot of work for a small amount of money

Very busy from the start of the day. More like skilled unit than assistant living. Management is very lazy and refuses to help no matter how short staffing. Caregivers are overworked and the turnover rate is very high. The ADON is very unprofessional and clueless about scheduling. The hardest part is coming to work because of the storages of staff. The most enjoyable is some cool co workers.

Pros

Free lunch

Cons

Medical Management

Easy to get into the flow of work

The work at Story Point Rockford was very simple and understandable. The staff was nice but some of the work was harder than it needed to be because of miscommunication. The management was good but sometimes I felt like I would have to carry the burden of others who made mistakes and did not show up to work or do the work correctly.

Awesome place to work!

Though I may not love all my coworkers, I would never trade my job for another. I love my residents, and my bosses… Management has never done me wrong! I truly feel appreciated as an employee, and because of my prior experience before working there, I feel very confident going into work every day. This job is not very suitable for entry level caregivers as it is sometimes busy, overwhelming, etc. Better if you have some experience first. Otherwise it’s a great place to work!

Pros

Positive Environment

Cons

Some Coworkers

No work/life balance

I enjoyed the actual work I performed. Also, working with the elderly was very rewarding. There wasn't any work/life balance at all. I worked 70-80 hours for weeks on end. When I asked for assistance to help alleviate the extreme hours worked I received no help.

Positive vibes

I really love this job, the company is very supportive and nice. They really do care about the quality of work and they are really receptive to people who are new to the job. I highly recommend you to start here if you’re wanting to get into the healthcare field for the first time and learn more about how to be a caregiver.

Pros

Inclusive and understanding workplace with many opportunities to learn new things. Warm and inviting atmosphere with the nicest residents and staff!

The most enjoyable part of the job in my opinion is getting to meet and work for the residents in this community. All of them are worth every moment spent on them and they are all so grateful and understanding.

Pros

Relias training, Meet new people, Work culture, Management A+

Cons

Compensation. No opportunity for advancement or raises in certain job roles.

Very busy. No staff. No one cares you're burnt out. Management doesn't step in and offer a hand to help support their team. They only care about lining their pockets.

Good job, great residents, capable coworkers

The job was primarily washing dishes. The job got difficult only when we hired new servers. Most of them caught on very quickly having a good relationship between the servers and the dishwasher is very important. Overall, the servers did a pretty good job of bringing the dishes to me before it was too late at night, or just before closing. The executive chef is absolutely awesome! Really smart guy with a great sense of humor. The sous chef, however, made unrealistic demands on me. I was expected to work a 10 hour shift on days of the truck delivery came in. I was required to put the entire truck away that is physically impossible with all of the dishes and pots, and pans to do as well. since it took two shifts for me to put away the entire truck, the sous chef would walk through the kitchen on truck day and see that there were still boxes sitting there. After seeing that a few times, not understanding that I spread it out over two shifts, I was written up and summarily fired. It’s really too bad because I Liked that job a lot. Of course I got along with the cooks and tried to do everything I could to make their job easier. It’s never a good policy to fire an experienced Dishwasher like myself. Dishwashers are not exactly lined up out the door waiting to get into the job.
