In this job you will play many roles but this comes with a nice amount of free time. I've worked in many roles over my time at SC and loved the flexibility that comes with the job. The culture is great and the people you work with are there to help you out when you need it but you also have to be good at communicating what you need, If you do that they are always there to help. With this job you get to travel to some really awesome places that you might otherwise have never been able to go to or just passed up. Majority of what I've learned at SC has been on the job and they have good resources to make sure you are safe and understand what is going on. Hardest part about the job is being able to manage yourself and keep a good attitude when things aren't going to plan. But with this the attitude you bring to the job is what matters. The ups out way the downs and again they are always willing to work with you if you ask. Jobs are always changing and there's opportunities always coming around. Communication is key in a small company and if you can do that you will thrive.

A typical workday includes traveling around the US and climbing towers. I have learned a lot of priceless industry information at SC. SC always ensures field techs are able to complete the job safely and equipped for the job at hand. Management is extremely relaxed and your biggest manager is yourself. The workplace is extremely positive and encouraging which breeds a successful working environment. The most enjoyable part of the job is traveling and seeing the beautiful US from a higher perspective.

Very much enjoy my day to day work at SC, it's a laid back work environment and we bring on great people to get the job done. Everyone here is very capable and has worked in the office and in the field so they understand what work life is on the road.

I've worked at SC on and off since 2015. I've worked for all of the managers and performed most of the scopes of work. Easily the most fun, professional, and safety-oriented group of individuals I've been lucky enough to work with and I've made some lifelong friends here. I most like having a job where I can self-manage and don't have to report to an office everyday. My time at this company has given me a ton of great experience in construction and telecommunications that I've carried to other roles. If you like to travel SC has plenty of that. I've been to every state in the continental US and was even fortunate enough to get a few months in Alaska and Panama in my first three years. SC is super flexible when it comes to your time off. Generally I work as hard as I can until the end of the pay period and then take a straight 7-10 days off. If I wanted to go backpacking in Europe for a month after working hard all summer my manager would accommodate that. If you can hustle, do the job right the first time, and effectively manage your own expenses you can make a pretty decent pay check every month. Even when things inevitably go wrong and it looks like I'm going to lose money, if I keep a cool head, power through and get the job done, my manager always works it out so that I'm happy come payday. Also, SC has a better 401k match than other, larger construction firms I've worked for. And as a single guy, I've got no complaints about what I pay for healthcare. (Except that privatized healthcare is a scam. Medicare for All!) I don't climb towers as much as I used to but I still do a lot of anchor dig work for SC. It's hard, hot, dirty and I really quite enjoy it. Often I'm in a peaceful field far from the nearest town, just enjoying working with my hands in nature. If you are applying for this position you should be comfortable working long hours outside with power tools and staying on the road for a 3-4 weeks at a time. Be respectful, willing to learn, give 110% every day, have a sense of humor, and I promise you'll have a great time.

SC provides a flexible and laidback office environment. Having dogs and a friendly / motivated core of employees makes the work feel less like work. The workload can pile up on you if you are not willing to put in the extra time but over the long run the hours usually all average out. When things are slow you will likely be asked to help out in other roles and departments. The learning environment is great, working with engineers and professionals with so much experience in telecom industry has been a great experience so far. Overall a great team to be a part of.
