When working for a franchise it depends on the owner, and how they choose to run the restaurant. Favoritism and silly politics is almost guaranteed. Some are very professional. Some are lackadaisical. However, when working for a corporate owned restaurant, they are definitely on top of everyone. Recognition will be given where it is deserved, and those who do not perform will be terminated or get their hours cut. I have found that when working for a corporate owned restaurant, there is more room for growth (and pay) if you do your job well and professionally.

There is no obligation to remain to cover a shift. If you are asked and are willing and able to cover the shift then great! If someone is unable to work their shift, it is company policy that they must find their own replacement, or a doctor's note must be provided.

As per the earlier response about the salaried employee being required to cover shifts that is untrue. The company has set policies in place to help avoid overworking salaried employees, if at all possible.

Horribile future enless they get some kind of coprprate person to really watch closing and observe the corners some of these franchises cut. Like not doing temepature logs. And forging the logs. Not safe!
