Ok seasonal job if you don’t want any advancement or a long term career.
Lift Operator (Current Employee) –  Maine, MEJune 22, 2019
You get to ski/board is really the best part of working there. You get to be outside and the mountain is pretty. Must love shoveling and working with some less than wonderful coworkers. No real advancement, or leadership.
Pros
Get to ski
Cons
Low pay. Lots of shoveling. Poor leadership.

Toxic Leadership
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Newry, MEJune 18, 2019
The leadership at this company is toxic. Almost every toxic leadership trait is there. Autocratic, manipulative, discriminatory, & overly competitive.

Snowboard Instructor (Former Employee) –  Newry, MEMay 21, 2019
I loved working at Sunday river, free season pass, and snowboarding on all my down time, but that being said Sunday river definitely accommodates more to the richer people, so if you don’t mind people judging you based on your wealth then this is a fine place to work.
Pros
Free season pass
Cons
Dealing with the rich entitled guests at the resort

This is a good place to work as a temporary position. You get a pass. What more do you need? Have fun at a ski resort! I suggest working at Sunday river.

I was an independent sales contractor selling ski passes at colleges. The job was fun but no room for advancement. Great college job for money. Great atmosphere.

Snow Production Technician (Former Employee) –  Newry, ME 04261February 22, 2019
The job itself can be fun with the right attitude. However, the management is terrible. They are more interested in being friends and letting conflict between employees simmer until the end of the season. Rules are enforced haphazardly in consideration to whether or not the boss likes you. Pay is terrible for the hours and duties required.

Boring and very annoying
Night shift Custodian (Current Employee) –  Newry, MEJanuary 10, 2019
Worked for another ski resort as a night Custodian and loved, came here and expected the same and it was totally different in a bad way. Coworkers are annoying, complain about each other, the work is just annoying and hours are tough on a persons body who doesn’t plan to stay working there. Honestly not worth working for custodial and way underpaid to deal with the people there and the monstrosity of mess there is on the daily.
Pros
Not much
Cons
Everything

Supervisor-housekeeping (Former Employee) –  Newry, MEJune 20, 2018
Sunday river is a first time job. There is not a lot of room for movement in the company because the opportunity is not provided. It was not a permant location, but a stepping stone to a new career.

Lift Operator (Current Employee) –  Newry, MEApril 3, 2018
There isn't much to the job. Essentially make sure skiers are safe getting on or off the lift. Some customer service involved at bottom of lift. Also get paid skiing time working at the bottom of the lift. Working at the top, you only get a half hour break and there is nothing to do but push buttons and sometimes rake the ramp where skiers unload.
Pros
Paid skiing time when working bottom of lift.
Cons
Top of lift is only a half hour break with nothing to do but push buttons
