Sutherland is great, whoever you are contracted with isn't
Outbound U-Verse Service Specialist (Former Employee) - Rochester, NY - December 14, 2019
This position doesn't exist anymore because I believe the department is gone. Did outbound calls for AT&T, didn't like AT&T rules but Sutherland itself was fine. Many people in the area get their first IT/call center job here. Do it to get the experience. Sutherland was also very flexible when I needed to change my hours
awesome coaches, very motivated people, hour lunches, opportunity to travel, get IT experience
outbound calling people who were already angry about the situation, warm transfers, the longer the call the better
Resolutions Specialist 2 (Current Employee) - Las Vegas, NV - December 14, 2019
I enjoy coming to work, feel accepted, have all the support available to me, along with great training. Everyone is friendly, and for me I look forward to work each day. I have formed good friendships with people. I highly recommend Sutherland for stable and quality employment. I have been here for 2 1/2 year, in May 2020 it will be 3 years!
awesome place to work big bonuses and prizes, the managers were always there to support you, they also did volunteer work
Customer Service Retention Specialist (Former Employee) - Las Vegas, NV - December 12, 2019
working for att&t and dtv was one of the best jobs I have ever had. I enjoyed helping people with their cable service. We were very competitive to see what team could keep the customers from switching cable providers.
I worked for Sutherland and I went through at least 10 different trainings because there programs kept closing. It was quite frustrating. Once you finished training for Department you where being transferred to another training for a different Department.
Decent job if you like surfing the internet all day and never want to advace into better pay.
Inventory Analyst-SRR (Former Employee) - Tulsa, OK - December 11, 2019
This is a good place to acquire the skills needed to get a good job. The management will watch you like a helicopter mom and complain when they think you aren't "busy". Four weeks of PTO when you start is the only good benefit. If you are old and counting the days until retirement, this is the place for you. Theyalalways ready
Good day. As global company, Sutherland provides employees with multiple opportunities to develop professionally while gaining invaluable experience. It is a great place to work whether you are starting or building a career. Thank you for sharing your experience. Have a great day!
Job Work/Life Balance
The management at Sutherland is reminiscent of a Plantation.
Call Center Representative/Customer Service (Former Employee) - Houston, TX - December 10, 2019
Management creates a very negative atmosphere by coming in late, but expecting regular employees to be on time. MGMT does very little but expects others to do far more than what the compensation is per hour and basically treats non-management like slaves. Trips to HR was the only resort attempting to acquire fairness. Then getting to actually talk to someone in HR is another battle.
$12 for the stress you endure dosen't cut itand that's why people use that company as a stepping stone to look for a better paying job. The amount of work you do for the wage and the stress you get isn't worth it you might as well outsource the whole call center
AT&T Business Sales and Service Agent (Current Employee) - Rochester, NY - December 5, 2019
The company carries a mixed image of good and bad. In my experience of 5 years there, you have better chance to advance not because of what you know, but who you know. Its challenging to get a decent work schedule (program pending). The pay and incentives could be better (Taco Bell hires at a higher base pay rate currently). But on the plus side, I've met some cool people that have become part of my circle.
I started this job 6 months ago and have already received 2 raises. We started at $12 per hour. We are now at $15 per hour which I never expected. I’m grateful. Management can be supportive at times. There is growth, however you must apply yourself. I would like to eventually grow with this company. I’m going to do all I can stay here because the grass is not always greener on the other side. Meaning, this job is not that bad and I’m not interested in job hopping
Customer Service and Email Response Specialist (Former Employee) - Houston, TX - December 2, 2019
I loved Sutherland when I first started, but it’s definitely draining once your finally in there. Fighting, mess all the time, unhealthy environment, weed smell, managers showing favoritism, and better yet, HR always firing an employee to cover their FRAUD a**es. High turnover rate. If you work for Sutherland expect to be treated like SH* and lied to most of the time. God forbid you get into some mess
If you're considering working here, don't do it. Very bad place to work, very dishonest management, and terrible micromanaging. You will never be paid what you're worth and you will never be paid with your promise if there's any incentives involved. Worst work experience ever.
The company stresses professional development and cultivating the next generation of managers. Training is first rate from internal and external sources. The requirements of schedule make it difficult to be flexible however concessions were made where they could be. High turnover is a drawback at entry level. Managing your internal staff and the requirements of a contact center client can be difficult. Many senior leaders are offsite so mentorship at high level is scarce. I met some of the most business savvy professionals there with only a handful who are an example you would not follow. Great place to start regardless of age, ability or education. Veteran friendly.
Customer Servicpe Representative (Former Employee) - Las Vegas, NV - November 23, 2019
Quality of work (accuracy, thoroughness, competence) Quantity of work (productivity level, time management, ability to meet deadlines) Job knowledge (skills and understanding of the work) Working relationships (ability to work with others, communication skills)
I enjoyed what I did here. Taking calls, the encouragement, and especially the management. Just need a better system with shadowing and training new comers as that was the biggest issue I had. Otherwise I enjoyed working here.
