It’s a lot of steps to get a substitute teacher permit. You must pass the CBEST, which is a 4 hour long exam. You have to get your finger prints scanned and take a TB test.

In my case, it took about 2 weeks. After filing an application, you are contacted within one or two business days by email to set up a phone interview with Swing Staff. If hired during the interview, you are contacted within a day with contract to sign, and subsequently with other forms with instructions to follow. Passing background check and TB test are the two important requirement to complete the hiring process.
