It is not for everyone
Insurance Sales Agent (Former Employee) - Remote - December 4, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIf you like to cold call 24/7 and then be put down for when people don't want to purchase a plan, then this is the place for you. They have a great team atmosphere if you're a producing agent. It is hard to get people to not ghost you for appointments.

Fir entrepreneurs only. This is not a job. You need to invest time and money.
FIELD UNDERWRITER (Former Employee) - Philadelphia, PA - December 2, 2023
Be ready to make a lot of calls. You need to be super sharp with handling objects which I found to be the biggest obstacle initially. But, even when you get through the objections, you get a lot of tire kickers or people in dire financial situations who can not afford a small insurance policy. That being said there are some who succeed. However, the success rate is very low. Unfortunately, my group was a revolving door. The most successful newer people at the company seems to have something in common. Many had done insurance sales prior, and yes, they had some incredible numbers, but again, these were unicorns.
Pros
Good people. Good training.
Cons
You need to buy leads. If not careful, that can put you in the hole fast.

Great opportunity for those with business owner mindset
Insurance Agent (Current Employee) - Boise, ID - November 27, 2023
Great opportunity to work for yourself but not by yourself. It’s essentially a business in a box and you can start building your own agency from day 1 if you choose. Different career paths are offered depending on what you want from the opportunity. This is a 1099 position and is 100% commission based so you get out of it what you put into it. Uncapped income and the potential for passive income in the future.

Extremely low commission
Broker (Current Employee) - Charleston, SC - November 8, 2023
You can make your sales goal if you put in the work. The problem is you don't earn an honest commission from them. Imagine having a thousand dollar sale just to make a couple hundred dollars! I'm convinced agencies only make money from recruitment and not because their making sales themselves. It's possible to sell a lot but earn little. Beware!

Decent
Feel restricted. Have to purchase leads which gets expensive if you want to good ones. Being on the phones is not tough but only certain time of the days are worth it. If you want to call all day you need to have a large large lead purchase. Looking for something either with salary or leads provided.

Great Culture/ Expensive Leads
Independent Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Remote - October 31, 2023
Symmetry is great if you are an experienced agent, but it will kill you financially if you are not. A lot depends on your agency owner. Do some research before you sign on with someone!

Commission Sales
Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Texas - October 22, 2023
Be aware that you will be paid on a straight commission basis. That means you must pay for all travel expenses to get to and from referrals' homes. It is a tough way of life until you are able to get a team under you to help your commission base.

Great potential
Insurance Broker/Field Underwriter (Current Employee) - Remote - October 19, 2023
Put in hours in the beginning and it will pay off down the road. No experience is needed to start and learn as you go. Good people to work with in most agencies.

Not a good fit
Health and Life Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Work from home - October 15, 2023
Cold calling "potential" leads" Lead system is a joke; you buy old leads that they have sold to hundreds of others and the people you are calling are upset because they're getting hundreds of calls/ texts.
Pros
Work from home
Cons
Little pay for the time investment

Supportive Culture
Field Underwriter (Current Employee) - Wilmington, NC - October 13, 2023
The culture is unmatched, truly. Everyone wants to see you succeed no matter how small the win may be. The founders are just as personable as all the agents and make an effort to make even newer agents feel seen & heard.

Great for grinders
Field Underwriter (Current Employee) - Florida - October 11, 2023
Great place to work if you can grind and manage your own time. Poor leadership when it comes to getting advice on products. Better off going to the carrier

You will spend more than you will make
Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Remote - October 2, 2023
Your life will revolve around paying for and chasing what is called "warm leads" only for them to be very cold. Expect to be told off multiples times. If you do land an appointment from one of your purchased leads, they want you to lean into the person's "why" and "push on it like a bruise" and to sit in uncomfortable silence. You are using guilt to your advantage. Their high-mach sales tactics do generate business. But you will be lucky to break even after paying the absorbent price for leads. Lets not forget how they stress recruiting and having agents under you. This is a MLM, there is no way around it. They make it seem like they want to help you build your own agency so you can make money. Yet they won't tell you about the kick back that they will get for each sale that you make, and the recruit under you will make. MLM. And if you aren't broke from the lead buying, just wait until conference time - that they pressure and expect you to attend. Travel, lodging, food, conference fees - it all adds up. Which isn't helpful when you are working on getting your business up and running.
Pros
Everyone is nice
Cons
Everything about the company and their high-Mach ways of selling.

Not a bad place to work if you have time, money and a sales personality
Insurance Broker (Former Employee) - Cullman, AL - September 29, 2023
Good compensation but you have to pay for leads and most leads are old. If you have a great personality and can build your own book of business you will go far but it's a MLM company so you have to get maxed commission and then hire so many people under you to advance.
Pros
Good compensation, make your own hours, work from home
Cons
MLM and paying for leads

Decent opportunity for entrepreneurs
Life Insurance Agent (Current Employee) - Houston, TX - September 27, 2023
It’s worth a shot. Make sure you have some money saved to be able to invest in leads, im talking at least a couple thousand. If you’re good at sales, great opportunity. I wish they gave agents more opportunities to get lead credits from the company though.
