Great place to work as a security consultant. Very flexible, especially for a large company. Compensation package is generous compared to other large companies.
Senior Corporate Applications Engineer in Hillsboro, OR

I think this company pays the rock bottom lowest salary in this industry. This company doesn't give salary raise to its employees and one has asked this question in a company wide meeting when they reported the quarterly revenue. The CEO answered: we give salary raise to selective employees. In another similar meeting the CEO answer to the same question: Be happy you have a job. So, don't expect a salary raise. In 7 years I got one salary raise: 1.8% and I was a lucky one. Their 401K is a rock bottom in industry: the company contributes annually only 1.5% or maximum $1,500 to the employee 401K. The only good thing at Synopsys is free coffee & tea and the employee stock participation plan (ESPP) where you buy their stock at 15% discount on a 6 month basis. But that is the standard in industry and every company which has stock does the exact same plan. So, if you are a desperate person and don't look for a career and just want a job go ahead and endure a miserable life at Synopsys.

Overall job is quite interesting and you tend to learn a lot of interesting heuristics at play. Working on EDA software is pretty challenging. Similar efforts put in other software industry can pay you bigger. Junior Engineers don't get paid well due to lot of old ppl sitting with hefty sum. Some teams have matrix management. So gotta deal with managers who dont understand your work. So you need to carefully choose your team that you are working on.

A large established successful company with typical culture for such a company. Rather stale environment with restrictive rules. Nice work/life balance
