I think this company pays the rock bottom lowest salary in this industry. This company doesn't give salary raise to its employees and one has asked this question in a company wide meeting when they reported the quarterly revenue. The CEO answered: we give salary raise to selective employees. In another similar meeting the CEO answer to the same question: Be happy you have a job. So, don't expect a salary raise. In 7 years I got one salary raise: 1.8% and I was a lucky one. Their 401K is a rock bottom in industry: the company contributes annually only 1.5% or maximum $1,500 to the employee 401K. The only good thing at Synopsys is free coffee & tea and the employee stock participation plan (ESPP) where you buy their stock at 15% discount on a 6 month basis. But that is the standard in industry and every company which has stock does the exact same plan. So, if you are a desperate person and don't look for a career and just want a job go ahead and endure a miserable life at Synopsys.
Pros
Free coffee & tea
Cons
Very bad management.

Overall job is quite interesting and you tend to learn a lot of interesting heuristics at play. Working on EDA software is pretty challenging. Similar efforts put in other software industry can pay you bigger. Junior Engineers don't get paid well due to lot of old ppl sitting with hefty sum. Some teams have matrix management. So gotta deal with managers who dont understand your work. So you need to carefully choose your team that you are working on.
Pros
Good Software Engineering
Cons
Bad management

A large established successful company with typical culture for such a company. Rather stale environment with restrictive rules. Nice work/life balance

Opportunities are available and continuous learning is necessary to be successful. Different divisions offer a variety of technologies to explore. Individuals must drive their own success and find areas they are most comfortable.

The workplace culture is very good. A typical workday is like most other SOC/ Asic companies. The hardest part is learning the flow since you would be working with multiple companies and there multiple types of environments. The work environment is relatively relaxed.

No longer the great company it used to be. Obsessed with saving money and improving operating margin, even though stock is at an all-time high. Now more investor focused than employee focused.

If you are able to work hard and you do not care about perks, this is the right place for you. You have to depend on yourself for self-improvement.

This is not a company to spend long term. At most 3 years and 3 is pushing it. Very political at the management level. There is nepotism of the wrong sort. People who don’t understand the job and yet are related to somebody important. Advancement is very limited. You will be rated by projects and those with the most notoriety go to the favored. The ticket system is a mess and the IT department keeps loosing senior people. The CEOs are very moving people. It’s easy to get lost in their message and loose sight of what is going on at your level. Good to start a career. Bad to stay long term.

In Synopsys, the pay is very low for young engineers. They prefer to keep engineers with higher level, and they keep losing young employees. And there's no stock compensation for level below staff SDE.

the office culture is by far the best thing about this place, as close to zero drama as anyone could hope. people take responsibility for their work and support each other while remaining mindful and respectful of individual roles and boundaries.

Most of technologies are 20+ year old, so if you don't learn modern staff in your free time, you'll be outdated pretty soon. If you don't care about that, it's relatively stable place to work, leaves some time for family.
