Not the worst job, but not by a wide margin.
Baker - Full Time (Former Employee) –  Northampton, MAJanuary 11, 2019
My co-workers were excellent, and it was generally a fun place to work and be creative. The pay was JUST enough to keep me from walking out on bad days. I learned a lot of new and invaluable skills, and met some great people. The previous head baker was an excellent mentor, if not the easiest to get along with. The bad days were usually caused by problematic management, and their general disregard for the well-being of their employees. Poor environmental conditions within the bakery made it very difficult as well.

Assistant Baker (Former Employee) –  Northampton, MAJanuary 29, 2014
Tart Baking Company is a great little bakery in Northampton. Most days involve getting up before dawn, mixing doughs to be used for breads later that day, baking pastries for the cafe when it opens, preparing special projects.

It's a great place to learn; all of the employees are available to answer questions ranging from where ingredients are sourced to how to finish a wedding cake. Everyone is warm and friendly and interesting to talk to.

The hardest part of this job is that you are expected to be multitasking throughout the day: if you're baking, wash dishes in-between the timers for the ovens; never stand around waiting. Plus, getting up anywhere from 2-6am is never easy.

The people who work at Tart are undeniably some of the friendliest people I've ever had the pleasure of working with.
Pros
listen to music, great learning environment, free goodies
Cons
Breaks quietly discouraged, very physical
