Awful Place - Do Not Work Here
Director (Former Employee) –  Herndon, VAMay 8, 2018
Awful Place - Do Not Work Here; Management is awful. The place is full of Indians from India. Some people have no mgmt skills. The company has brought in a CRO from CenturyLink which is a failed company too and Tata is going downhill.

OK company, but too slow and not willing ot invest
Partnerships (Former Employee) –  USAApril 9, 2018
Working at Tata Communications can get you involved interesting work, and some of the people are good.
But overall, the company isn't disciplined enough, o slow and is not willing to invest to become a real cloud provider.

Very slow moving and not a lot of market coverage in the US
Director Sales/Marketing (Former Employee) –  Matawan, NJMarch 18, 2018
The US sales team has undergone a major transformation including a large influx of people from Century Link that are in positions that exceed there capabilities. Tata is a very difficult company to get basic work done like takin weeks to get a price quote or to place an order. With the wholesale change out in the leadership and sales team no body know how to get work done in a slow moving India backend. All sales support is done from India and the company only has 30 direct sales people in the US.
Pros
Good people in the US that work hard
Cons
Getting anything done in the remote location of the US

Work culture was stressful but
Sr. PROGRAM / PROJECT MANAGER (Current Employee) –  Santa Clara, CAMarch 4, 2018
Working at Tata is stressful since we work with teams and customers scattered all over the globe. One need fit themselves into the multifarious cultural aspects of each team members, especially who are located overseas. Work hours also varied and required to handle meeting at odd hour, again due to the global nature of the industry. However, telecommunication is highly supported which made work-life balance much easier.

Flexible Work Schedule and ability to try new technologies
Director Advanced Solutions Division (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXFebruary 25, 2018
I was able to work remotely from home that allowed me to be more productive an support various time zones in India, UK, USA, Canada, and Singapore.

The negatives were that it is an Indian company and things take a very long time to get completed and there is a large dependency in India to outsource critical key roles. There internal IT organization is basically all Project Managers with no in-house technical knowledge that is a huge expense.
Pros
Work from home, with flexible work schedule. Ability to try new technologies.
Cons
Rely on outsourcing for internal key functions. Takes long time to get accomplished.

Productive, flexible
Assoc. Director, Business Collab, Mobility & IoT (Current Employee) –  Matawan, NJFebruary 15, 2018
Tata is a good company to work for; good people and as well as a great boss. I was allowed to work primarily from my home office. I would come to the home office in Matawan once or twice a week as needed as well work in the lab in Wall, NJ. Better than average health benefits as well as 401K plan. It's unfortunate that I will be leaving, not by choice but I understand the companies need to cut budget.

I had the opportunity to work on some high profile projects in the Unified Communications space, working with partners e.g.Sonus, Acano, Metaswitch, Cisco, and others. Hardest part of the job was keeping up to date with multiple hardware/software updates from those vendors requiring many hours of QA testing in the lab.
Pros
Great people, better than average benefits
Cons
No real cons I can think of

Slow moving
Commercial Deal Architect (Current Employee) –  San Francisco Bay Area, CANovember 6, 2017
Slow moving decision making with 95% of the staff having no authority. Lack of understanding of the pace of high tech American companies. All decision making is out of India causing major delays in day-to-day operational effectiveness.
Pros
Good pay and benefits
Cons
lack of understanding of the pace of high tech American companies

Tata takes good care of employee benefits but the company works in all traditional style and old people. Old fashioned and bureaucratic. Work life balance is good and compensation decent.

TATA Communications
Senior Program Manager (Current Employee) –  Matawan, NJJune 2, 2017
Work/Life Balance is decent, although this is a global company, email is 24/7. Salary are good, and the company still provides a yearly bonus. Employee ratio 80:20 men to women, with no sign of change.

Nice people to work with but the processes need to be improved
Senior Technical Program Manager (Current Employee) –  Matawan, NJMay 24, 2017
Tata Communications Limited has a company has a great set of people working there.
However, there is very little focus on the quality of work and there's a lack of customer focus.
Cross functional teams need to work to the overall progress of the company but most of the time they work against each other.

Not terrible
Manager (Former Employee) –  San Francisco Bay Area, CAApril 20, 2017
Not that terrible not very good company to work for. There seems to be a "boys club" mentality and if you are not in the club, you are treated very differently and I feel they actually discriminate against non-Indian employees.

The company is a good place to work. It is a very diverse environment where all ideas are discussed and vetted. Tata offer lunch and learns to broaden everyone's knowledge base of industry and company happenings.

Senior Manager, Commercial Voice Operations (Former Employee) –  Senior Manager, Commercial Voice OperationsJune 1, 2016
Tata was a fair company to work for. Tata is a global conglomerate with their hands in many pots. Tata Communications America was the cash cow for Tata.
