Body Shop Paint Technician (Current Employee) – Portland, OR – September 7, 2018
a typical day included painting something usually a few trailers 53ft long. I learned to paint, detail automobiles, forklift use and other skills. management was good and fair. The workplace culture is positive and friendly. The hardest part of the job was painting. The most enjoyable part of the job was completing a paint job an seeing it look awesome an knowing i did it.
Still a growing business. As big as they believe they are.... they are still small..
Parts delivery driver (Former Employee) – Wilsonville, OR – August 6, 2018
Most of the employees work to the best of their ability. Management thinks that when they did the positon 10+ years ago that it is the same now...Not an accurate statement.. IF you had 15 stops all day, yay for you..People now, have at least 10 stops before noon.. Then you are expected to stay till whenever and be happy after 12 hours of being stuck in traffic.. I did enjoy my co-workers very much. Management needs to learn to be Management and not "buddies" with everyone.. Make "friends" outside of the work force. being "buddies" with your sales people doesn't make you a good manager. It does make you unavailalable to the employees waiting for you to acknowledge their presence while doing the job you ignore until required to pay attention...
monthy "safety" lunches - if you get them fresh
feels like Jr. High.. poor managment, owner is lost on his Jet..
Service Department Employee (Former Employee) – Portland, OR – July 30, 2018
The Service Department is a fast paced high stress environment. The workload is not evenly distributed amongst the personnel in the department. Departments within the company try to increase their profit margins at the expense of other departments. Since a fair amount of lower and mid-level management compensation is production bonus based, this creates barriers between departments preventing a "team" environment.
TEC is a very stable company that can provide opportunity for growth, and career advancement.
Your job description, duties, and hours can change at any time. If you are on salary based pay, your compensation will not change with added workload or added hours or days to your schedule.
Receptionist (Former Employee) – Des Moines, WA – July 20, 2018
This statement is very true. The culture is almost to relaxed. So much so that hardly anyone is accountable for the role and responsibility they have. Upper management claims to care about the employees but in reality most (not all) only care about their bonuses. If a manager has to step on you to get their commission or bonus they will without hesitation. I’ve seen employees cheated out of bonuses with little to explanation as to why. Don’t even think about reaching out to HR for assistance... Any one of the HR reps will point you back in the direction of your manager or your manager’s manager. Most of the managers have very little skill in the area they work and/or don’t have the slightest clue of what is going on.
The owner of the company and his family are genuine people. They care about the employees as well as their families. My hope is that upper management stops hiding the issues from the owner. I’m sure if he knew how his employees were being treated he would put an immediate stop to it. Sadly, upper management will more than likely continue to keep him in the dark.
Parts Delivery Driver (Former Employee) – Coburg, OR – July 15, 2018
It started out great really, I liked all the people there and even the couple we hired after me. I got my work done in a quick and professional matter. But then we finally got some management and I was young, so my driving record wasn’t kept as clean as it should’ve been, so it went kinda downhill from there.
Diesel Technician/Mechanic (Current Employee) – Fontana, CA – March 30, 2018
I have been working here for a few months. It is not a bad place to work although sometimes is can get hectic. You are always guaranteed your 40 , but there is one big con.. This company does not pay well.
Payroll Administrator (Former Employee) – Portland, OR – March 24, 2018
Would not be leaving if I wasn't relocating. Wonderful people to work with, the workplace culture is incredible. The owner honestly cares how is people are doing, and yet lets you have the freedom to do your job with little interruption.
Parts Specialist (Former Employee) – Fontana, CA – November 2, 2017
A typical day at work was very interesting, always something different going on with different customer's and their needs. It was a pleasure working for Tec Equipment, I would still be there but I retired this year in January, sure wish they had a opening for part-time work. Management was very pleasant to work for and they always tryed to work with their co-workers.
The owners at Tec were very, very, nice people to work for, always took care of the people working for them.
