You would need to frame this in terms of "how many usable sick days do I have" because it will vary. At the end of the building season, you might have a few. In the spring, after holidays and weather days have reduced your chargeability to 86%, you will not be allowed to take days off (or you will be fired without notice, like I was). Try to have all your certifications done on your own time, because if you do it on company time, it will count against you. Frankly, Terracon's policies sound good at an interview but are inadequate compared to other engineering/consultant firms.

There is a formula for computing sick time/PTO. In reality, you won't get to use it. They want you to stay 85% chargeable, but holidays/sick time/vacation/certifications all count AGAINST chargeability.

You get 2.31 hours of PTO a week when you first start (averaging about 3 weeks). This does include all of your sick days. If you're an office worker, you get major holidays off. If you're a technician you may not.
