Overworked
Engineering Assistant (Former Employee) –  Raleigh, NCMarch 23, 2019
They work you to the bone with little hope of advancement. Expect to travel 3+ hours to job sites and work 60+ hours a week. It is hourly pay so you don't get paid when the work stops. You are also expendable if anything happens at a site.
Pros
Benefits are great, lots of overtime pay and bonuses
Cons
Long travel times and longer work hours. No work/life balance. No promise of advancement

12 hour days, minimal advancement opportunities
Materials Technician/Environmental Scientist (Current Employee) –  Bettendorf, IAJanuary 20, 2019
A typical day over the past year includes at least three hours of travel. At the beginning of the day you will never know whether you will be home by five or by midnight. Management asks everything of their underlings whilst not giving anything themselves. Salary employees will only ever be seen for 40 hours a week: No more, no less. Hourly workers are expected to be available and on call at all times and days of the week. Expect no less than 12 hour days. The longest I've experienced was 17, though others have had 20+ hour days.
Pros
Plentiful overtime
Cons
Minimal free time

Terracon is the best place I've worked so far.
Assistant Project Manager (Former Employee) –  Lawrenceville, GAJanuary 9, 2019
Terracon was the single greatest company I've had the pleasure to work for. They provided and paid for education growth, uncapped career growth, excellent benefits, company vehicle when needed, and many many more benefits. They were nothing short of fantastic and helped my career growth exponentially.

Good Job with Good Benefits but No Life Outside of Work
Construction Materials Technician (Former Employee) –  Tulsa, OKDecember 3, 2018
The benefits are good, but as a materials field technician, the job work/life balance is very poor. If hired as a materials field technician, and once you are able to go to jobs without supervision, you will be working 60-80+ hours weekly excluding weather days.
Pros
Good people to work with, good benefits.
Cons
Job work/life balance if poor.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT III (Current Employee) –  Baton Rouge, LAAugust 3, 2018
The company hires knowledgeable people that work very well with others for the most part. I love working with the people, but financially the pay doesn't cover the cost of living.

Fun workplace - Boring time
Technical Engineer (Former Employee) –  Fargo, NDMay 30, 2018
Workplace culture is like family - by far my favorite people to work with. Low pay and not much to do on non-busy days. Difficult to stay on task with chargeable activities, because there aren't enough to go around to all the workers. Great opportunity to learn.
Pros
family atmosphere, easy job.
Cons
low pay

Its a great filler job for me. A lot of the people there are lifers but I do not intend on it. Its not a job you want if you don't like outside and working with construction attitudes but its a great ever changing place to work I'm enjoying my time here and saving as much as i can!
Pros

Job responsibilities are enjoyable at times. Pay is way below average for type of responsibility.
Engineering Technician (Current Employee) –  North CarolinaMarch 29, 2018
Very slow pay raises. Night work, no extra compensation. Slow when weather is bad. Seems like management and salaried employees have no worries. Financial struggle hourly employees. Benefits not bad.

Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Do not warranty 40 hours for technicians a week when it's bad weather conditions.

Great Place to Learn
Field Geologist (Former Employee) –  College Station, TXJanuary 30, 2018
For a recent graduate Terracon is a great place to gain experience. But, if you are looking to make any financial advancements in your life Terracon is not the place to be. They will work you like a slave and pay you like a sharecropper.

Low pay

Great job but not enough compensation
Construction Materials Technician Engineer (CMTE) (Current Employee) –  Greenville, SCJanuary 4, 2018
The reason I left the company is because of personal reasons but one thing that motivated it was the lack of compensation. So many different tasks that you would do through out the day and not get paid for your worth to the company. Lack of proper training is a big thing too. I do recommend the company to properly train future employees and give them a hire on raise when permanently hired.
Pros
Paid Travel Time, Pto, Benefits
Cons
Not enough compensation, hours arent guaranteed. Work hours varies nothing is set in stone.

Great company culture with excellent benefits, but not very rewarding work as an Engineering Technician
Engineering Technician II (Current Employee) –  Baton Rouge, LAJanuary 2, 2018
Terracon is a great company to work for, but the working hours for an Engineering Technician are long and unpredictable. It is hard to find a healthy work-life balance, and the compensation is hardly enough - unless you get tons of overtime hours. However, I really enjoy all of my coworkers and supervisors, and everyone makes a great effort to create a fun, friendly, professional, and collaborative working environment.

Great company culture
Cons
Low pay

Stressful and on your own. When on projects did not here from the office for weeks.
Environmental Specialist (Former Employee) –  FloridaDecember 13, 2017
Management was never involved, until hire up would start asking questions. Worked night, day and evening shifts. Sometimes worked an al night shift and they would sometimes want you to attend a morning meeting.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Everything else, especifically management. Never around.

Construction Material Technician (CMT) (Former Employee) –  Tempe, AzDecember 12, 2017
It has been a long time since I worked there. But I remember 3 weeks pto, okay pay. But asked to work a lot of off hours, sometimes early morning, other times middle of the night. If you can handle a volatile schedule, it's a good job, but should probably pay more for having to put up with that.

As long as you do your job and is needed when the job requires, the position should go well. Hours may be difficult but will get used to it after working a while.

Poor internship
Field/ Lab Technician (Former Employee) –  Cincinnati, OHSeptember 7, 2017
While this was just an internship. the compensation was still lacking for the amount of work being done. Poor communication between different supervisors.
