Able Seaman/HSE/Crane Operator (Former Employee) –  Galveston, TXApril 12, 2018
I worked on the Research Vessel Gyre which was a state owned biology collection vessel. The Captain was demeaning and abusive while all other employees were decent people trying to make a living on low state pay. No real benefits or job security and the vessel was old and unkempt.
Pros
Free travel
Cons
The Captain and pay
