Textron should look into why so many people are leaving .I have never worked for a company with such bad managers that do not support their own direct reports . Talented employees are leaving everyday or either layed off .

Regional Sales Manager (Former Employee) –  TexasJanuary 7, 2019
Sales development of customer base is always difficult and a challange. People working there are all good professional indivisuals. Being home based and self starter your day is as productive as you would like it to be. Management is caring and understanding for the professional indivisual. My only regret is that I didn't work there longer. A very good company to work for.

On the upswing but still not great
IT Analyst (Current Employee) –  Augusta, GAJanuary 1, 2019
I've seen so many people leave because they've just been fed-up with the culture at TSV. There have been some significant management changes however, so hopefully this will bring in some new ideas. There are great opportunities to be had at TSV though. If you are a go-getter that wants to make your mark, this would be a great place for you.

Draftsman/Designer (Current Employee) –  Augusta, GADecember 21, 2018
Family type atmosphere in workgroup.

Typical workday involves creating models of prototype vehicle components with engineers.

Most enjoyable part of the job is test driving all wheel drive vehicles.

The hardest part of the job is meeting strict deadlines.

The engineering department is a tight knit group working to a common goal.
Pros
Flexible hours

Unrealistic deadlines

Work 6 days a week. Underappreciate and overwork their employees. No communication. Push products off the lines for numbers whether they are complete or not. Great money, poor benefits, poor working conditions.

If you have a life don't apply here
Material Handler/Forklift Operator (Former Employee) –  Augusta, GAJune 22, 2018
A typical day at Textron where upper management and office associates don't speak to you unless they want you to do something. Majority of the time they walk by you and wont give you eye contact, some will look you right in the face and will not say a word. Lack of communication between management and employee's are a problem. management will tell you Friday that you are working the weekend even if you may have already made plans. This company have no compassion for there employee's home life and they don't care if you spend time with your loved ones. Management will tell you " oh well your making money", that just didn't work for me any more.
Pros
employees are great to work with
Cons
short breaks, low pay, no family time, lack of communication, and no life

Would not recommend
Employee (Former Employee) –  Kennesaw, GAMarch 19, 2018
Textron ended up having one of the poorest management teams I have worked with. I was disappointed because I expected more out of a Fortune 500 company. The place was completely unorganized and no member of management will accept or implement new ideas. The layoffs are ridiculous because they turn around a few days later and post job openings for the same ones they laid off but with a slightly different job title. Because of their Fortune 500 status, they attract some of the best and most talented candidates out there. It is just a shame they will be chewed up and spit out due to the company’s own inability to manage its business.

Great people, but low wages and long hours
Manufacturing Engineer (Current Employee) –  Augusta, GAMarch 14, 2018
My first year here was great, but the company only cares about numbers. Processes in place would succeed with little innovation and improvement, but high-level decisions were never thought out well enough to be properly executed. Long hours, mediocre pay. The biggest benefit to TSV is you have the ability to change roles every 2-3 years which gives you the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in a short period of time.
Pros
People, diversity in experience
Cons
pay, hours, upper management, location

Depends on Department
Engineer (Current Employee) –  GAFebruary 17, 2018
Textron Specialized Vehicles (TSV) is a huge company. You really have to know which branch you go into to determine if it was a good work environment. One place I worked was recently acquired by TSV, and the entire section was in chaos. And they treated the hourly workers horribly. But other sections I got to work at and it was relaxed, calm, respectful and incredibly productive.

Company had great benefits including a company vehicle. Most sales opportunities with Textron Specialized Vehicles are remote opportunities allowing a lot of freedom.

Glad that from here on out I can't possibly work for a worse company
Territory Sales Manager (Former Employee) –  RemoteJanuary 25, 2018
There are no words for how poorly upper level management functions. The sales management team could not be more unorganized. The last thing they prioritize are their employees. The pay could be great but unfortunately you'll never get paid what they say your commission will be. They promote a dishonest environment and are slowly driving the company into the ground. This company will be under in a number of years unless they finally realize that they need to clean out the current management team and start over.
Pros
Great exposure and practice working with terrible management
Cons
Laptop battery is at 88% and that's not enough time to type them all
