Operations Manager, Health Information Management (Current Employee) – Urbana, IL – September 12, 2018
I learned a lot in this role. The organization is fast-paced and demanding as it prepares itself for the future. Management is good; however some divisions are very transactional based and do not use as much emotional intelligence as others.
Hardest part of the job is the constant demand for multiple complex projects and results, doing more with less staff while responsible for employee engagement scores.
The best part of the job is definitely the people who work there. Lots of caring, hard-working staff who have the patient's best interest in mind.
Registered Nurse (RN) (Former Employee) – Urbana, IL – August 28, 2018
staff and facility created a fun and exciting work environment. Management guided the day to day operations with skill and control. Will and have recommended others to work here and to be patients in the hospital.
Scheduler (Former Employee) – Carle at the Fields – August 5, 2018
Fast paced environment, rewarding work. However you get no positive feedback on your performance and you can be blind-sided if make a mistake. You will find out about it, but it may be too late to keep your job. No developmental coaching is done at all.
transporter (Former Employee) – Champaign, IL – August 3, 2018
good place to work atypical day at work is most always good. you will learn a lot of things here ,management was very good as well, very good work place culture, people of all race and size,a very enjoyable job
Certified Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee) – Champaign, IL – June 23, 2018
It was a great experience to work at Carle I feel that Carle as a whole cares more about money and getting patients in and out then they do the problems of the patients. They would add new buildings and new rooms but wouldnt let our department hire more people which makes a lot of stress and isnt good for patient safety. Other than that it was a good place to work
Excellent Community Minded Mission - World Class Work Environment
Director, Internal Audit and Regulatory Compliance (Former Employee) – Urbana, IL – June 20, 2018
Creating and expanding the Internal Audit Department was a challenge but very fulfilling and rewarding. Performing audits in all of the various divisions of the hospital (Financial, Operations, Research, etc.) allowed for the broadening of working knowledge and experience. Serving the community in a small way was rewarding and a significant motivator to grow and expand the audit program.
The greatest challenge was navigating a political culture while trying to fulfill the duties and responsibilities as delineated in the Internal Audit Charter as approved by the Audit Committee.
Professional Work Environment, Well Defined Mission, Community Impact
Political Culture, Internal Audit Considered Optional Financial Expense
Student Physical Therapist (Former Employee) – Urbana, IL – June 11, 2018
Everyone is super helpful, the entire culture to to reach out and lend a helping hand. Obviously there are a few people who don't buy in as well as others but a vast majority will help you with anything you need.
WC and General Liability Analyst (Current Employee) – Urbana, IL – May 15, 2018
Carle Hospital is respected place to work in the Champaign/Urbana, IL area! Carle is a fast paced work environment depending on your role. Employees are knowledgeable and are friendly towards patients and visitors.
Senior Health Care Tech (Former Employee) – Champaign, IL – April 11, 2018
Carle is a great place to work. I was a tech and I was over worked and under paid. I loved working there, but had to work 6 days a week to live. Always understaffed, which sucked because then the techs got floated everywhere but their own floor.. even when they needed them.
Very collaborative team of technologists with years of knowledge
Student (Former Employee) – Champaign, IL – March 7, 2018
The department changes from slow to very busy throughout the week. All of the techs work well together. The radiologists are communicative and the nuclear medicine radiologist is very educated and kind.
Housekeeper (Former Employee) – champaign IL – February 14, 2018
I learned how to better interact with others. I learned that its a tough job and you have to work hard to do well. I was only there for a short while because I was just involved in a 6 week program there but I did learn a lot of new things. I got more familiar with the hospital setting which is nice because I'm thinking about going into the healthcare field. the most enjoyable part of the job was the employees. they have a great staff. they are very diverse. management was nice and you could always go and talk to them if you have had a bad day.
Health Information Management Technician (Former Employee) – Urbana, IL – February 14, 2018
This review is for somewhere I worked 13 years ago. At the time, the management was kind and caring. They supported their workers, but that was changing as medical records and changes to other medical regulations changed the role of support staff. I left before those changes fully took effect.
Supply Chain Tech (Former Employee) – Urbana, IL – February 11, 2018
Typical Day - Worked second shift from 2-:30-11:00pm. After 6:30pm I was the only Supply Chain person left on the floor. This resulted in being asked to resolve multiple issues relating to patient care. Overtime was almost always needed to complete the assigned workload.
Learned - Multitasking skills improved
Management - Department manager was knowledgeable of workload issues and worked to try to resolve them.
Workplace culture - high stress environment, due to trying to meet the needs of multiple departments and emergencies.
Hardest Part - Workload was too excessive for 1 person to manage
Enjoyable part - Satisfaction in being a part of the patient care team
Performance Management Consultant (Former Employee) – Champaign, IL – January 30, 2018
Carle Foundation has been a wonderful workplace for me. They welcomed me as both a new employee as well as a new transplant to the community. The work/life balance was perfect. The benefits were competitive, and it was motivating to be a part of a fast-growing company, despite its homegrown roots.
