The Cliffs offers a positive, professional work environment. Having experience working at other private clubs and in hospitality, The Cliffs standards were a match for me. As a current concierge I enjoy working with my staff & assisting our membership, feeling accepted and supported. Employees are encouraged daily and their strengths are noticed for promotional positions. Like most hospitality position, hours and scheduling vary. The amenities and employee care are exceptional to most hospitality positions elsewhere. The location and properties are beautiful and accessible. The overall family centric values and management structure exceeds other work environments.
Excellent work environment. The members Take really good care of staff. And the Cliffs provide wonderful education opportunities that have helped me
The cliffs at glassy. (Current Employee) – The cliffs at glassy. – April 9, 2018
One of the best companies to work for in terms of education and staff development. If you commit to the cliffs they will help you achieve your career goals. It is wonderful to work in a beautiful environment with supportive management.
Server (Former Employee) – Marietta, SC – April 2, 2018
Everyone talks bad about eachother, it was the most petty and dramatic work environment I have ever been in. I made okay money but it was not worth the stress, the management is constantly in and out and servers are made to feel like they can do nothing right.
Always supported by management, and felt welcome. A lot of hours are required in busy seasons and holidays, but if you plan accordingly it works out. The team worked together great, and the members are kind. A great place for a people person to work!
Food and Beverage Supervisor (Current Employee) – Travelers Rest, SC 29690 – November 18, 2017
The Cliffs, though a great location to start a career, will more than likely consume your life once in a supervisor role or higher. The pay is wonderful and so are the benefits/ amenities. The members of the club you work for, if there long enough, will change from intimidating to a family.. they will take care of you as if you are family.
This is probably one of the coolest places to work! Yes, it will require you to be on the top of your customer service game but you will learn and grow so much in a lot of areas and meet some of the kindest caring management and co workers. A gem!
Enjoyed working here, but for a very short time. The hours required to work and the location of the properties are big negatives because of the distance you need to travel to work. But the service level is top notch and so are the facilities. A place you can be proud to work at.
Corporate management creates the most dysfunctional and toxic environment I have ever worked in. Serious issues with basic honesty and credibility. Local management is consistently undermined and replaced so corporate can save face to the membership. Massive turnover in middle management as a result. Any disagreement is treated as insubordination. Staff are discouraged from taking grievances to HR. HR is not particularly helpful since most of the problems begin at levels above HR. Managers are shifted around between clubs with little or no notice. Anyone outside of corporate can expect very little in the way of basic courtesy, decency or transparency. Hours in theory shouldn't be too bad but the revolving door of management and hourly staff leads to long hours.
Good pay, decent managers, supportive HR/Payroll system, pleasant coworkers, not too heavy of a work load, flexible hours. Nice getting to see the same members everyday vs. working with the public which is always different.
kitchen staff (Former Employee) – Glassy – June 13, 2015
If you have no life and only want to work than this place is for you! Management at club level is chaotic at best and only cares about themselves. Corporate is a joke....constantly changing policy, and they never have a clear and decisive direction. They say one thing to your face and do a completely different thing behind your back. They don't support their employees and treat lower level employees like minions. Horrible place to work!
past associate (Former Employee) – asheville/arden – April 16, 2014
Be ready to sell your soul to the company. The club in Asheville is a great place. Most of the managers are ok, its CORP that stinks and will stab you in the back. If your OK with that, you will make good money if you can work and go home and don' take any bagage with you.
