Dysfunctional failing company
former employee (Former Employee) –  Tampa, FLNovember 29, 2019
Founded upon "take out" insurance transactions, they built up fast. However, such take-out plans are no longer available from Citizens -- or what policies are left are not worth taking, which amounts to the same thing. So they no longer do take-outs. But they do not grow what insurance business they have, and so it naturally depletes. Culture is horrible; they commonly seek to employ from out of the area, because of their poor reputation locally.

IT Consultant (Former Employee) –  New York StateNovember 22, 2019
This is the most unreliable, unprofessional, unrealistic, unreasonable, company you can work for. My advise is run away as fast as you can. They belittle there employees give false information on there contracts etc. HCI need to be shout down completely.

Do not waste your time
Help Desk Technician (Former Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLNovember 12, 2019
A complete mess and very unprofessional.

Lack of leadership and communication on all levels possible.

They never followed through on their word.

It's obviously they pick certain people so they can take advantage of them knowing they need a job.

I saw people not get paid for weeks with no sense of urgency to compensate them.

Random lay-offs.

Just not worth it in my opinion.

If you have other options go that route please!

Horrible management
Epic Physician Activation Consultant (Current Employee) –  United StatesNovember 6, 2019
Unreliable management, leadership is poor. Consultants work so hard and are paid so little. Consultants now pay for room and board when on company assignments.

Clueless
Senior Consultant (Current Employee) –  TravelOctober 8, 2019
Accounting is clueless and don't know what they're doing. They often make mistakes on paychecks and expense reimbursements.

My division feels disconnected from the rest of the company because we're not included.

Worked Epic “Go live”
On site consultant (Current Employee) –  Nashville, TNOctober 7, 2019
It was a very exciting experience. It allowed me to train pharmacist on Epic within the disciplines of Willow and Beacon as a consultant and not as a pharmacist. However, my pharmacist knowledge allowed me an added insight to assist thoroughly.

Poor Organization For EPIC Go Live
Epic Trainer (Former Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLSeptember 26, 2019
Bottom line, they have an industry reputation for poor treatment of consultants. Most highly qualified professionals won’t work for HCI or Divurgent if any other opportunities are available. They have systematically devalued the GO LIVE industries consultants and have routinely supplied healthcare companies with inexperienced workers which they bill top dollar for. Consultants have regularly scheduled their time with these companies and in the past turned down opportunities with other companies only to be cut a few days to week into the project. As a healthcare company, I would be very concerned of the quality you may or may not receive from both of these companies. They have very limited internal organization and poor communication with their consultants. They are highly likely to hire poor quality/inexperienced consultants to provide a body they can bill the healthcare company for. Buyer and consultant be aware and avoid The HCI Group and Divurgent.

Epic Activation Go-Live ATE Support (Current Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLJuly 23, 2019
A hospital wants to change it's software to Epic. The hospital will call Epic. Because Epic doesn't have the manpower, they'll contact e.g. (HCI Group). HCI Group will then contact us who were already in their database and contracted us for the hospital's Epic implementation. HCI Group would now be responsible for our flights, hotel stay, per-diem and salary till the end of the implementation. A typical day's job is 12 hours in the hospital training the physicians, nurses, technicians and others on how to use the new software. It takes averagely about 2 to 3 weeks. What you learn basically depends on how far you want to go because you'll learn on your own. The HCI Group is one of many agencies. The hardest part of the job is you don't know how many projects you'll do because there are so many consultants out there. The spaces between contracts are too long. The most enjoyable part of the job is when you are on the project doing the work and getting paid and sleeping free at the hotel.
Pros
When you have enough projects
Cons
When there are long time between projects.

They don't pay you, beware!
Sr. Activation Support Consultant (Former Employee) –  Rochester, MNJuly 10, 2019
They have a reputation for leaving people at airports when they fly into a job, and the manager will tell them to call HQ in the morning. I had to stay in a really horrible bug-infested dirty hotel. I was not paid overtime, nor did I get paid a full-time salary I was supposed to get between contracts. Other people got some of the money, but not all of what they should have been paid. They had robocalls and you could not speak with a person, they would not return calls. This did not just happen to me but hundreds of people who have worked for them.

Organized chaos with high turnover
Mid-level Executive (Current Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLJune 28, 2019
The acquisition of the HCI Group by its current parent company, has led to less than a smooth transition with policies and personnel changing on a frequent basis over the last several years. Operation and Sales resources are spread thin causing a negative domino effect in terms of efficiency and optimum productivity throughout the organization. You are left to your own devices to teach yourself many aspects of your job, related to constantly changing services, management infrastructure, policies and procedures. There is a heavy influence from the CEO to pursue opportunities ad hoc, and at his discretion, despite qualification of opportunities. There are both pros and cons to working for this company; however, the very high turnover for a multitude of reasons is strong evidence of job satisfaction here.
Pros
A good place for an Account Executive to get a broad perspective of business operations.
Cons
This company will burn you out, and you better be on the right side of the politics.
