The only 12 hour shift required was of the store manager. Assistant store managers are required to work 10 hr shifts. All other Department supervisors and associates were required to work 8 hr shifts. There were countless times as a Department supervisor that i was required to work 12 hr shifts. The start time could range from 4am to 3pm

Yes there are stores who hire for an overnight shift - Freight.
My store was too small and did not have this crew. Day time Supervisors were required to rotate through an overnight cycle.
