Contracts Administrator (Current Employee) –  The Woodlands, TXJuly 16, 2018
Except for the open office concept I have nothing but praise for HHC. The Woodlands Development Company was acquired by HHC 6 years ago and has made major corporate changes that benefit the employees as well as the culture here in The Woodlands office.
Pros
Culture

Learned a great deal on setting up high end meeting room conference video equipment.

Please Don't Do It
Executive (Former Employee) –  The Woodlands, TXNovember 27, 2017
...Unless you enjoy a stressed out atmosphere, and having 'representation' on speed dial. Keeping this job has deteriorated my relationships since new management surfaced.. New management, who exemplifies inept, glorified incompetence. They are essentially a group of friends who refer more unqualified, ill equipped management. I've worked in hospitality for 25 years. These are not minor issues that inevitably surface. Management has no accountability and does not envoke thoughtful leadership. Here's this years recap of this year alone; reduction of hours for hourly workers, sales team has unrealistic goals which are often raised to double, bonus structure was decrease, time at office lengthened daily, loss of employee discounts on rooms, no concern for family or work-life balance... You will not be paid at all. Management is reducing costs everywhere but their own pockets. Everyone else, and I mean everyone, is absolutely miserable. There's a lot of turn over. Management said they are encouraging this turn over. They are encouraging change. They promised us last year, after numerous layoffs, no more layoffs. Yet, they continue to occur. There is zero job stability. Employees feel discouraged and unappreciated. There's a great deal of mumbling and employees shopping for other positions. It's impossible to sell when internal confidence is obsolete.
Pros
Retirement
Cons
Lengthened hours, declining benefits, no work life balance, reduction in pay and bonuses, extensive renovations have just begun and willl stunt immediate future growth

Cook (Former Employee) –  The Woodlands, TXJune 6, 2017
Racial/other inappropriate jokes are considered normal and acceptable, obvious inappropriate harassment from head of kitchen also went without consequences, employees are beraded with loud, unprofessional critisism in front of the entire kitchen. This is not a TV show, this is a professional kitchen setting and should be conducted as such. Head of kitchen lacks maturity, class, tact, and knowledge of his own workspace.
Pros
Decent money
Cons
Few hours, highly unprofessional environment

This job is a bad job to work for I myself see that the managers and employees treated you very bad and the managers never listen to your voice they act like they do or make a joke out of it but at the end your still standing were you first begun. Never in my life will I come back to this job again mostly because I feel like the top people that asume they have a high standing look at you down and if your not in there rank they just seem to see you down like nothing in other words if you want to work hard and get paid nothing well this is the job for you also there is to much racism!

Employee (Current Employee) –  Dallas, TXMarch 14, 2017
Fun Atmosphere and culture. They like to drive performance to it's peak. Management is overall really well placed. Their bonus / Compensation packages in certain departments are lacking, and they tend to skip over people who dedicate themselves 110% to the Company. They tend to let some hard working employees go, while others who are not dedicated are still around. The company prefers to treat new employees better, compensation-wise,than others who have been around for much longer and given everything. Aside from this, they do have a lot of nice employee perks and the people are really great to work with

Howard Hughes has a very uptight, fast paced environment
Manager, Shared Services (Former Employee) –  Dallas, TXNovember 2, 2016
Howard Hughes is a difficult place to work. We were understaffed and forced to handle every aspect of the accounting process from property accounting to SEC reporting. It was typical that we would work 70 hour weeks during the quarter and annual reporting cycles.
There was a great deal of turnover during my tenure.
Pros
Great insurance and benefits
Cons
Long hours, poor work life balance, uptight atmosphere

Great place to learn a variety of skills
Hostess (Current Employee) –  The woodlands, TXJune 11, 2015
From my experiences with the company, as long as you are willing to put in the work and speak up when things are bothering you, you can make some great money. I learned how to deal with high end guests and tricky situations and if you're not looking for a permanent job here it looks great on the resume later. Management differs based on where you work, but the big bosses always stop by and appreciate hearing feedback and dealing with issues. They like to choose spirited workers, so expect your team to be a variety of strong personalities. Hardest part of the job may be dealing with high strong guests and slow days, but people stick around for the great benefits/pay and fun coworkers.
