Not the place for anyone who's interested in career advancement
(Former) Manager (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILJuly 20, 2017
If you are looking for just a "job", this may be the place for you. But if you are serious about your career and looking to advance, enter at risk. The museum is filled with vibrant staff who are passionate about their roles. But if you are a manager or above, you are likely going to be stifled by the politics and gossip that tends to take over the museum's mission.
Pros
Location, great staff, free parking
Cons
Compensation/Benefits, Advancement, Toxic Environment

Work is fun but management lacks respect.
Facilitator 1 (Current Employee) –  Chicago, ILOctober 20, 2014
In an average day at work as a facilitator at MSI you begin by playing a game or doing arts and crafts. It's hardly the worst thing in the world but it doesn't help you feel respected in your job.

Co-workers are often artistic and fun young people though the job also attracts a number of retirees and teachers. These people will be the best part of the job and if you allow it they will become great friends to you.
Pros
The job is easy to leave behind at the end of the day, Sounds really cool to talk about and will make for great party conversations, The money is really very good especially compared to similar jobs in the industry
Cons
Facilitators are part time only and can only get health benefits after a full year of employment, Once eligible, benefits come at a high premium when compared to the same benefits for full time employees.
