When interviewing for a position in the newsroom expect to have a lot of interviews. It's typical for the company to move slow (I was three months from application to hire and everyone at the time commented that that was quick). You'll talk to potential team members and managers of adjacent teams, and at least one person on the masthead.

I applied on line and was called the same day. A couple days later I went for an interview and was offered the job. Started training about 1 week later.
