RESEARCH ASSISTANT (Current Employee) –  New York, NYFebruary 22, 2019
Rockefeller really appreciates its employees. There are constantly special events to celebrate employees. If you know you want to stay in academia, Rockefeller is the place to be. However, without an advanced degree, there is no room for growth in academic culture.
Pros
Great health insurance
Cons
Not enough room for growth

Terrible supervisors & workers
Animal Attendant (Current Employee) –  New York, NYFebruary 5, 2019
The supervisors at the CBC department are anything but professional & are unfit to be there. The staff drinks alcohol during work hours (especially on pay days and on fridays) and the investigators usually leave behind a huge mess for the techs to come clean up but the techs get blamed. Coworkers seem more involved in each other's personal lives than the actual work & the mice are rarely cared for. The staff who works here sees this job as just a paycheck & couldn't care less for the animals. Its disturbing to work here, when other animal research facilities pay a lot more, have updated facilities with working machines, better management, and people who actually do their work (the techs HATE working). Techs throw away mice every single day, and the supervisors turn their heads. Don't waste your time working here, unless they get rid of all the CBC supervisors, leads, & higher ups. You will have a terrible work experience.

Hours

Friendly, warm and Growth
Assistant director (Current Employee) –  Child and Family CenterJanuary 11, 2019
Rockefeller University Child and Family Center is a warm, friendly and professional center to work in. There is room for growth within the center and I've learned a lot from my years at the center. The teachers are passionate and invested in their work with children.
Management makes a concerted effort to provide teachers with lots of support through workshops and meetings. Management also makes sure to provide an environment where teachers can be happy and comfortable in.

Great place to work
Human Resources Intern (Former Employee) –  New York, NYSeptember 23, 2018
The department was very big on introducing me to different aspects of their jobs. Wanted me to learn as much as I could in my short time with them. Very supportive. A lot of group activities, more of a family than a workplace environment.

Ok place to work
Laboratory Manager (Former Employee) –  New York, NYMarch 27, 2018
The benefits are good, salary doesn't match living cost in area. Co-workers are generally nice. Facilities should be improved and parking to employees is not available.

Awesome place to work
Research Intern (Former Employee) –  New York, NYNovember 21, 2017
I had a wonderful boss. she really cares about her workers and makes an effort to make everyone feel included. we taught high school student the ins and outs of working in a science lab and challenged them to participate in the world of science. there were many activities pioneered to give these students the authentic experience of being a scientist, and many students benefitted from this experience.

The quality of research, and scientists at The Rockefeller University are unmatched. The work-life balance is attainable, depending on the lab, but encouraged by HR.
The best place I've ever worked at.

Fun but competitive internship
Research intern (Former Employee) –  New York, NYOctober 20, 2017
My internships at Rockefeller University (LAB-ASP, SSRP) were of the best experiences I have ever had. The spots were very limited, but once you get in, you can choose what kind of research you want to do. The mentors are amazing scientists and people. Everybody works hard, and when we got a break, we'd play hard! Amazing opportunity for high school students.

Volunteer (Current Employee) –  New York, NYAugust 4, 2017
At Rockefeller University, I volunteered for Rockedu where we invite underserved schools in New York to bring in their students and let them experience an advanced Science Lab scenario. We help them carry out different experiment depending on their grade level in their respective school. As a volunteer, my responsibility is to help the students perform the experiment and to answer any of their questions.
Pros
Free Lunch, Fun with Kids
Cons
It was a volunteer opportunity, so no cons.
