If you were in charge, what would you do to make The TJX Companies, Inc. a better place to work?
I would be more family friendly, it seems that if you're a manager you work your tail off. I would like them to be more understanding to single mothers that are trying to balance work schedule, and daycare.
What questions did they ask during your interview at The TJX Companies, Inc.?
1. Why do you want to work at TJ Maxx?
2. What do you know about TJ Maxx?
3. What does customer service mean to you?
4. What does diversity mean to you?
5. Where do you see yourself working in the store?
I applied online and got an email to schedule an interview about a week and a half later from applying. I called and scheduled an interview for the end of the week and pretty much got hired on the spot. They said as long as the background check and references checked out, I'd be good to go and she'd call to tell me when orientation would be. I gave about a week before I called because I hadn't heard and was getting anxious and we set up an orientation date that day. It might be faster for other people, I think it just depends on the location and the management.
What advice would you give the CEO of The TJX Companies, Inc. about how to improve it?
District manager, should try to talk to sales associates rather than so called assistant managers. The sales associates do all the work. They know the customers.Ask them how things are going. The asst, do nothing. And the TJX rewards all day long.Care about associates. Like you care about rewards.Associate need the bonuses. Not so called assistant managers.Again associates are the ones that make the store.
401K after so long as well as personal time after a year I believe. However, the company is very flexible with scheduling and time off. If you need more than part-time work or to really make a living you will not get it at TJMaxx as a store associate. That is something to think about and pretty sure that is told up front so it's not something anyone can really complain about. Also most, not all, people at my store are hired in as seasonal temporary help. If you are asked to stay I'd say take that as a compliment. You know what you are coming into if you accept it. If people that have been there for years get more hours than you, learn from them and do what they do usually the people who get the extra hours when available get them because they perform duties of the position they are being paid to do.
Your scheduled weakly hours are based on the availability you give management and it can be changed at any time. If you say you can work open to close on any given day you may be scheduled at any time on any given day randomly to fill the needs of the store. If you don't like the schedules you are given it is very easy to go the scheduling or any manager and ask to change your availability. This company is great when it comes to this.
