Hands down the best part of the job, is the bond you form with the regular customers. They truly appreciate people will health and wellness knowledge, and want to learn. That said, Vitamin Shoppe is a specialty retailer. Everyone in every store, is over worked, and under payed. A store averages about 5 employees, and managers are salaried. If someone calls in, managers are forced to work open to close without compensation. This also happens if you are short staffed. Managers are welcome to call other managers to come help out, but good luck. Salaried managers don’t want to spend their day off covering your store for free. DM’s, Regional Directors, and Corporate are so out of touch with the retail side. Technology is ancient, and is constantly a problem. Stores keep old cardboard boxes of paperwork like the stores of the 1970’s. Worse is, with all the lack of tech, they want us to sell auto delivery services, so they are garunteed an income. Don’t sell enough, you may lose your job. This is one company that needs to grow up and get with the times!
