A school where teachers are respected, supported, and compensated fairly
Infant Program Supervisor (Former Employee) - Denver, CO - May 18, 2022
This program is like no other. You will be treated as a professional with planning time each week, support from knowledgeable peers, and understanding parents that are always willing to help. The classrooms are either under ratio or have extra teachers. You have an endless supply of materials and leadership that's willing to purchase whatever you need. Everyone, including the students, are high respected as individuals with important needs. I have nothing negative to say about this school, and am sure that any early childhood professional would be lucky to work here.

2 Years with TWA
Preschool Teacher (Current Employee) - Denver, CO - May 5, 2022
Early childhood development is never a glamorous job, it’s hard, dirty work that gets very little appreciation from the outside world. With that being said, TWA is working to change the field and the way it is viewed for the better. They have fair pay, decent hours and respect for their teachers/families. Each year they take steps towards making the school year calendar more flexible with more paid time off and professional work days. The leadership at TWA encouraged their teachers to speak what’s on their mind and are always open to hear constructive feedback. They follow a child-lead, play based philosophy and have very progressive views for teaching children. The school has big beautiful classrooms with large windows. Nice playgrounds and a great system for taking field trips. Overall, this is a great school to teach at. To make it in the early childhood development field, you have to be someone who sees the world through a glass half full and appreciates the little things.

Love this community
Teacher (Current Employee) - Denver, CO - May 5, 2022
The Wonder Academy is my second home. I have never worked at a school where I felt so comfortable. I feel like the Leadership team goes above and beyond for their employees and were very cautious through covid. We are all a team and help each other out. When I have something going on outside of work I always have the support I need here (Ex needing time off, time to make a phone call, just time to take a minute for myself) parents and kiddos are awesome as well!
Pros
Wages, professional development

Best community
Teacher (Current Employee) - Denver County, CO - May 5, 2022
The families and staff community that The Wonder Academy attract is truly amazing. Everyone is so welcoming, respectful of everyone’s differences, and eager to help any team member in need. I’ve worked at other schools where a teacher potty is ignored for sometimes 30 minutes or more. Not here. The leadership team and float support are ALL over it. Everyone helps everyone. The building is also so unique and beautiful. I feel fulfilled and respected every day that I work here.
Pros
Owner buys lunches when lunches are cut short, pto, sick time, generous pay, lovely little staff coffee room, beautiful location, supportive admin, well educated team members who are passionate about their work

Generous Pay, Excellent Team, Meaningful Work
Teacher (Current Employee) - Denver, CO - May 5, 2022
TWA is hands down the best school and the best team I've ever been a part of. The staff community is welcoming & eager to help one another at a moments notice. Everyone is genuinely here because they care about the children and they care about the work. I feel inspired by my co-workers on a daily basis. Watching the Reggio Emilia and RIE philosophies be integrated at every age level has been eye opening and humbling. Unfortunately, in ECE we all know its not uncommon to have an excellent first impression of a school, only to then realize how awful it truly is once you start working there.... I wont go into detail here. The Wonder Academy is an entirely different energy. The teachers are patient, kind, and empathetic towards children. Always approaching situations with a true WONDER-approach. Additionally, I've never felt more respected as an ECE teacher as I do here. I feel that I receive the pay I deserve for the physically and mentally taxing work that we as ECE do every day. I feel proud of my degree and my job title and the work that I do here, even when society makes us feel less than worthy at times. I am proud to work here and be a part of this team. I can't say enough great things about this school. I only hope we continue to find more people that match our dedication, persistence, and positive energy!
Pros
Generous compensation, fair hours, overtime, benefits, child-discounts, hour lunches, extremely responsive administrative team, DPP financial awards, friendly co-workers, beautiful aesthetic environment.
Cons
No ceilings can make for a little noisy days, but also adds to our overall open aesthetic and sunny building!

Difficult place to work
Toddler Co-Teacher (Former Employee) - Denver, CO - April 20, 2022
I was constantly berated and belittled at this job. The work environment is cliquey and the "Leadership Team" only encourages it. I feared for my job everyday. I was asked to come in and work after trying to call out sick( I had COVID symptoms). It is expected that your whole life is this job, live and breath child care, because this place is a child care center not a preschool as it claims. The best thing I did was leave.
Pros
hour long lunch breaks
Cons
no prep time, no overtime, not great benefits, decline in mental health

Unique school with a lot of potential
Teacher Assistant (Current Employee) - Denver, CO - November 19, 2021
I feel that that other reviews and Q&A’s about this school paint a very different picture than what is actually happening here or at least what is happening there now. The school is Reggio-Inspired, play & SE-based and community focused. Their intention is for all people, teachers and children included, to be treated with respect. Teachers are given a great deal of freedom in their classrooms and are encouraged to be outside often. There are expectations of their staff, but nothing that feels unreasonable. If you’re someone who wants to be given a lesson plan and treated like an hourly employee, this probably isn’t the school for you. If you’re an ECE professional familiar with the Reggio Approach and/or interested in learning, I’d say check them out!
Pros
Salary, benefits, freedom

One-Of-A-Kind Community + Culture Early Childhood School
Business Development + Marketing Manager (Current Employee) - 1005 Acoma Street Denver, CO 80204 - June 29, 2021
In January of 2020, I decided to take a leap and join The Wonder Academy community in a Business Development + Marketing Leadership Role. I am incredibly proud to be a part of this community, as a staff member and as a parent with children here, and to be doing things differently in the ECE space. We deeply respect and celebrate each and every member of our community and strive to elevate them both professionally and personally. Our philosophy, Reggio-Inspired, play and nature-based, allows for a great deal of creative freedom by our teachers inside and outside their classrooms with a lot of time spent outdoors. Each of our staff members is paid salary, offered contribution to their health benefits, paid-time off, out-of-the-norm professional develoment and more. At the end of the day, we are a community that is ever learning, evolving and growing, that is passionate about what we do and our community - our people are what makes us special.
Pros
Salary, Benefits, Community, Culture, Philosophy

Instability
Teacher (Former Employee) - Denver, CO - August 5, 2020
As a previous teacher, I can say I never felt like my job was secure the entire time I was employed here despite my high level of credentials and experience. The owner/director is unpredictable and intense in the way she runs her business and has no fear of letting teachers go for “being a the wrong fit”. I appreciate the school’s vision (Reggio Emilia inspired and play-based) and the teachers were very friendly but there is definitely some favoritism and a gossipy culture that is difficult to ignore. The benefits were terribly expensive since it’s such a small school. If you decide to apply here I would recommend getting benefits elsewhere and having a back-up plan for employment the entire time.
Pros
Reasonable pay, community of teachers, Reggio Emilia inspired
Cons
Benefit prices, management, no job security

Zero security if you're a teacher.
Teacher (Former Employee) - Denver, CO - May 28, 2020
The directors of this school take advantage of teacher. If they find someone that looks better on paper, you WILL be replace as soon as possible. SAD
