Rewarding work. Supportive staff
Caregiver (Current Employee) - Glastonbury, CT - December 4, 2023
Enjoying helping people who need it. Always feel listened to and supportive for any reason and every reason. Most contact is digital and efficient. App used for charting and has had some bugs but is much better than from the get go. No complaints here!

What people like
- Energizing work tasks
- Ability to meet personal goals
- Clear sense of purpose
The company lacked solid direction from leadership resulting in loss of many jobs for their employees.
Home Care Liaison (Former Employee) - Fort Myers, FL - December 3, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Financial compensation was fair and generous What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The most stressful part was the inconsistency of leadership decisions. Direction was given one week and then a few days later, it is changed and then a few days later changed again. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? When I was there, leadership was inconsistent in their direction. Management and employees were not working truly as a team. I was an employee out in the field and I did not feel supported.

They have no homecare work end of story
Caregiver/Personal Assistant (Former Employee) - Las Vegas, NV - November 28, 2023
I quit there a few months ago and I had to. Ever since they changed their name from another company, nothing has been professionally right. The app does not work. They are always having problems with it where it is impossible to land a home care assignment. They refuse to fix it. You have to call schedulers from another state, such as California to see if there’s an assignment available. Ridiculous, and they are very shady. Sometimes you are likely to miss a paycheck even though you worked. Don’t work here, waste of time and you will forever be broke.
Pros
I don’t know
Cons
The app does not work and clientele cancels at the last minute

Decent Pay,Very Disjointed, Poor Leadership
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) - Virginia Beach, VA - October 19, 2023
TheKey overall isn't a bad company. However, there is much work to be done yet. Policies and procedures are disjointed. No one is on the same page. Local nursing leadership at the VaBeach office is DEPLORABLE. Favoritism, gaslighting, lack of communication, unprofessionalism... you name it, its there. Geriatric population is amazing. Very appreciative clients. They deserve a lot better.
Pros
Pay, flexibility
Cons
Leadership leadership leadership

Very good at communicating
Caregiver (Current Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - October 4, 2023
They listen a lot to what you need and are very understanding whenever you have a situation that requires cancelling as long as you contact them early enough

Was a wonderful job at first
Scheduler (Former Employee) - Midland, MI - September 20, 2023
manager came from a coffee house or somewhere along that line of work she should have never been in a position to work for a Healcare Company, especially having no knowledge or background in this field. Going back to college to get a degree does give you compassion!!! Hardest part of the job was losing a client Greatest part of the job was getting to know the client and caregivers
Pros
Caregivers and Clients
Cons
Management

Potential but be aware
RN (Former Employee) - San Diego, CA - September 4, 2023
If you are hired, be aware that they hire you before they have any clients available for you, so you have no idea when you will have or start work, or how many hours you will get. So basically I wouldn't depend on this job for full time. Flexibility is necessary, but don’t count on starting right away. Has potential if you are looking for 1:1 nursing though.
Cons
unknown start date

Lack of communication and benefits
Caregiver (Current Employee) - Pasadena, CA - August 30, 2023
The communication between the staffing manager is horrible and there is not growth or benefits.( only 24 hours of sick pay) They don't care about the client or employees.

My awareness increased about alzheimers and dementia with a understanding of my usefulness at this company.
Caregiver (Current Employee) - Rowlett, TX - August 30, 2023
A typical work day involves serving my client by making them know I am here to help you help yourself. Once I gain their confidence they know they can depend on me to help satisfy (your) their wants, needs---help me to do this by communicating with me. I have been able to learn what the clients needs are once our communication is established. The hardest part of the job is listening and watching how so many crave for attention. As a companion I learn to listen and let them arrive for answers they have to questions of how and why life is unfolding on them. It is when I see that my holding a conversation with my client is in fact making a difference is the enjpyable part to my job. I look forward to seeing cleint so I listen at how they are making their adjustment (slow dow).
Pros
I can bring my lunch!
Cons
I can take short breaks to go get something to eat!

Supportive, Professional & Incredible
Caregiver (Current Employee) - Kenilworth, IL - August 25, 2023
I've been working at the Key for a while even when it was Homecare Assistance and my experience has been amazing. The company truly does care about its employees and whatever problem you encounter at the workplace, they're open and willing to listen and help you through. Thank you so much for everything The Key! Also if you're thinking of joining, join with a good heart. My clients were wonderful and really a lot of the elderly and their families are looking for caring individuals. Blessings!

Toxic environment
Caregiver (Former Employee) - Palm Desert, CA - July 12, 2023
I was let go while i was on workmen’s Comp. They weren’t fair with my pay, and they would guess like me and say that I was the best employee there, and never let me know when I was let go.

Poor higher up structure, good clients
If you like bouncing around client houses, not getting paid for gas money or time lost traveling, TheKey is the place for you. Underpaid, inconsistent schedule. Clients were all great though. Responsibilities fluctuated depending on their plan of care

Nice place to work
Home Health Care Aide (Current Employee) - Connecticut - July 3, 2023
You get to work with nice clients that need a little help with self care and chores. Most clients have some dimentia and physical disability. You are helping them live at home and letting them remain as independent as possible. Management is just a phone call or text away. I haven't had a problem getting in touch with them.

Don't do it. Apply somewhere else.
Billing Specialist (Former Employee) - Remote - June 23, 2023
If you're considering working here, DO NOT. The company is continually shooting itself in the foot, so it's not making money. This is leading to no raises, overwork, angry clients, low morale and unethical behavior from management. I do hope they right the ship for the sake of the good people that still work there, but I fear the company is in a death spiral.

Too many lay offs
Staffing Manager (Former Employee) - Mesa, AZ - June 7, 2023
They lay people off because upper management wants to out more money in their pocket. They do not respect personal time . Too many changes. Overworked and underpaid

Out right sh** show.
I worked for the key for almost 3 years. I started seeking other employment the day an office managers response to my 1 year old having a seizure was “oh great” I would call about shifts and get no answer because offive staff either sleeps all day or refuses to answer calls. There’s absolutely NO communication between office and caregivers OR office and clients. Very unprofessional! I turned in my letter of resignation and because of doing so did not receive my last pay. The office staff refuses to answer me or give me a number for HR/cooperate/regional. I’m having to hire an attorney. If you’re considering working for them, don’t.
