Nice place to work. A bit of a distance from DC. Relaxed workplace. Everyone knew their role. Management was not overbearing. Coworkers in other departments cold be cold. Two head scratchers--nonworking soda machine never removed and two refrigerators always full.

Overall this is a reasonable place to work in R&D. Compared to some other places it has more job freedom in terms of what can be worked on and how you go about the work. The expected time frame to have some work done can be unrealistic on some projects, but that is very project dependent.Job security seems high, especially if you work well towards productive goals without any guidance. There is very limited advancement opportunity, with most prominent individual contributors holding the same title and position for decades or at most with a single promotion. Yearly raises are likewise a disappointment.

They decided that they didn't need more people so they started to let go of people. As soon as they let go of people they started getting busy and rehired new people that had no experience like us. They didn't bother to reach out to us. Management is a mess and the communication is terrible. Everything is unorganized.

If you can handle 12 hour shifts then your fine. If you want to earn a raise then you have to wait some time. I wish they paid you by how many tasks you learn but that isn’t the case.
Production Technician in Ogden, UT

The people here are for the most part pretty pleasant. Always something to learn. The pay and some of the benefits are definitely lacking though. The ogden plant also doesn't get the same benefits as the logan location. Because of these things many people are leaving the company for better pay and benefits which many local companies offer. For a company as large as thermo fisher it would be nice if they could give back to employees.
