It is a fun hospital to work at although it is rather small. It serves its purpose well considering the potential available for a larger role. It has a well managed secure environment. The laboratory is well equipped and well managed.

Job stability/security, readily available OT, very generous annual raises, constantly learning through different experiences/situations everyday on shift

I worked here for a few years, and it was a good learning experience, but it was NOT easy compared to working at any other hospital I've ever worked at. The patient ratios are insane and there was a lack of camaraderie and help from other staff on the unit, mostly because everyone was stressed and swamped. The equipment on the unit often wouldn't work, and things would frequently be out of stock. I learned after I left how much I was significantly underpaid for working in Chicago with my level of experience. The work schedule always came out way too late, and was only posted on a wall- I never received an email with the schedule. Management was always too busy to address concerns of their staff. The best part was being able to float to different units and gain exposure to different areas.

I worked here for a few years. In those years I was able to work with an abundance of specialties and and perfect my clinical interest in most. That did come at a price. Dealing with rude and condescending management. Nasty emails. Micromanaging. Abuse from higher ups. I would not recommend this organization to anyone. Unless you want to be constantly belittled and disrespected by the people that are supposed to be supporting you.

RUN AWAY from this place. Administrators will throw you under the bus to save their own job. They will go with status quo. Good place to make supplemental income BUT one becomes complacent real quick. THEY will intimidate you into doing something not within your scope of practice so long they are covered and have someone as a scapegoat when something happens. Bullying is also notorious.
