Job for the young with no personal overhead
Instructor for 12 years (Current Employee) – Alabama – June 7, 2012
This can be an incredibly fulfilling job. It is a business start up with little to no financial support from the Franchisor. Done correctly, in a market area with high dollar demographics, it can be financially successful. However, despite the glitz and glamor the "company" displays, only a very few franchises actually make big money for the owner (more than $40K/year.) That being said, if you are a young person with no family to support so that you can live on <40k, this is an awesome job. FOLLOW THE RECOMMENDED LOCATION DEMOGRAPHICS THAT TIGER ROCK GIVES! Do not under any circumstances blow that off! This is a premium product with a relatively high monthly costs if you offer the full product line, so you need a market that can support paying $100+/month for lessons. The company is full of great people, but be prepared for the core product to change right about the time you get all your students and parents used to things. (It has changed twice in the last 4 years.) Leadership deals extremely harshly with anyone who disagrees with their plan or in any way questions any decision.
other franchisees/volunteer instructors tend to be amazingly great people.
you are responsible for all expenses with no safety net. if you question any decision, you are labeled a bad apple and spoken down to at best, barred from rank promotion usually for not being "loyal."
