Company Culture improvement

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
I enjoy working with my team members. There's support for one another in the work place, and sense of camaraderie you don't find in a lot of other offices. Offices are busy but it can be pretty fun sometimes, too. Laughing happens often. Company culture is continuing to improve. This company is embracing change wholeheartedly. There's room for personal and professional growth. Core values are important, they form the back bone of most what this company tries to stands for. Health plans, dental care, good PTO, and retirement saving opportunities are competitive. You even get some cool swag on occasion. Offices are all busy, busy busy. Lots of opportunity to do different things in a typical day. It can get stressful when the flow gets disrupted, but we help one another. Breaks can be hard to come by.Covid precautions are taken seriously.

Pros

Team camaraderie, benefits, opportunity to expand job skills knowledge

Cons

Short to nonexistent breaks, stressful scheduling

Thank you for noticing the efforts we are taking to provide a joyful experience for our team members and to support your growth. We appreciate you forging the trail with your teammates and helping each other in stressful times--that's what team work is all about! Taking breaks is super important to all of us to reset and be our best. Please have an open and honest conversation with your Office Manager to ensure that you are receiving the time that you need. We look forward to watching you continue to grow!

Don’t value hard working employees

They claim they run their company by 5 “core values”, yet none of the management runs each individual office by those core values. They treat their employees like trash. They act like they would do anything for you, but will really drop you on the spot if they can’t afford to pay you. Would not recommend working for this poorly ran company.

Forward thinking Dental Office that cares about patients and staff

The company is amazing and personable! Open and honest conversations about oral health of patients as well as growth and development of team members. Time off is always approved, flexible work hours, and good benefits. You can cross train for whatever you need.

Pros

Professional Growth, Dental Planned Covered

Huge focus on up selling, and improper treatment

There was a huge focus on upselling to increase profits, but the pay did not match up with what the RDH is expected to produce. They treated the assistants poorly (I heard a lot of "you will do what you are told" and "you have no choice/say in the matter...") Poorly maintained equipment and old equipment that patients did not need to see (sterilizers, ultrasonic, etc.) Encouraged poor ethics and improper treatment as well. This place has the opportunity to be so great but unfortunately it is all about the money :(

Pros

Beautiful offices, modern.

Cons

Unrealistic goals, dehumanizing.

Toxic work environment

Whole time I was there management and everyone above you talks behind your back and tells other coworkers your personal business. If your friends with upper management you won’t get in trouble, but if you aren’t your all on your own.

Pros

Hours

Cons

No breaks, harassment, gossip, overworked, no time off

Company culture is the star of the show

Timber Dental is a special dental company that puts a strong emphasis on compassion and positivity. It makes it known that it values both its employees and patients and walks the walk in that regard. Though at times you can feel overworked, they reward that work with fun events, solid healthcare, good pay, and a cultural environment that puts you at ease.

The growth mindset of this company is contagious.

This company is what I’ve been looking for in a career. I love that we put our culture as our compass in all decisions we make. We strive to grow strong instead of fast. We serve our community at our quarterly free care clinics. We promote within whenever possible and promote a work-life balance that is healthy.

Startup that has blossomed in the past few years

First if you are looking for “just a job” this isn’t it. We value culture and live by our core values in and out of work (which are more than your standard values). this company is less than 10 years old and is still a start up. There are growing pains and kinks that come with that. And with going into year 3 of a pandemic even more so. The management we have currently work hard alongside their teams and appreciate everyone of them. Because we are growing, we have room for advancement and opportunities that most companies cannot and do not offer. We love to give back to our community and does every quarter. We strive to be the best at patient care and based on our reviews we are. We love coming to work and don’t come for just a check. We come to hang with our co workers who have become friends and we come to see our patients who know us by name. So if you want “just a check” apply elsewhere. If you want a place where you can grow, learn, give back to the community and make new friends then apply here.

Pros

Pay PTO Dental plan Culture

Cons

No retirement plan

Great place to work

This is the best company I have ever worked for! Love it here! Have made friends and am proud of our services. They are very supportive and helpful as well.

Pros

Management, coworkers, benefits, extra perks

Cons

The wages are fair, but not top for the area

Core Values are just words

Work environment and leadership actions are opposite of the culture they try to sell with their core values. Changes are made quickly whether good or bad. Unstable work environment. High stress on staff.

Pros

Group activities

Cons

High turnover

Initially excited about core values, let down by implementation

If Timber Dental was everything they talk about in their hiring ads and interview, it would be an awesome place to work. The reality is when I worked there that it was basically a corporate dental office that cared more about profitability and their own reputation, rather than their employees. I saw the cheap handpieces come apart in patient's mouths, 4 hygienists having to share a single cavitron (pre-covid), and a revolving door of staff in every position. They hire great people. I really enjoyed the employees I was working with at the office. But we all generally felt unappreciated and undervalued. We all took pride in taking great care of patients (except one doctor who did terrible work that often had to be replaced after he left), which is why they have awesome google reviews. With how many practices are looking for assistants and hygienists right now, you can definitely find a better position.

Pros

Fun team to work with

Cons

Poorly treated

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and thank you so much for mentioning that we hire great people. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the employees you worked with at Timber. We focus on finding the right core value fits to create amazing teams. Our intent is always to lift up our people and let them know that we couldn't do it without them. We recognize that we fell short on expressing our appreciation for you and we’re working hard to do more for our people including more celebrations and clear communication about career paths.

Culture is not existent. Not a fun place to work.

some of the pros are: - the Dentists and Hygiene staff are amazing people.- the buildings are clean and newer looking.cons:- low quality hmo health insurance with a high cost. every specialist requires a referral and you must go to certain doctors only.- people are always getting fired or quitting with a turnover rate north of 50 percent.- management is known for lying and hiding the truth. they told everyone when we shut down as required by the state for Covid that they would be rehired, but they never did for most of our coworkers. They never contacted anyone to tell them why and let them go without explanation. I am one of the few who got rehired. - they expect you to be available to work at any of their locations, even if you have no car.- they are always changing suppliers, labs, tech support companies etc.- you get no yearly raise here.

Pros

Good dental benefits and PTO.

Cons

lack of important benefits, hmo health insurance, no 401k, no vision insurance, cult-like environment

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review--we are always looking for ways to grow. We would like to clarify a few issues that you mentioned:1. We have three different choices for health insurance (ALL of which include basic vision coverage) and Timber contributes to half or more of the premium for teammates and their dependents--this can be a benefit of more than $2500 per year! And this year, our premiums went DOWN. There are several PPO options to chose from.2. For the size of our company (nearly 50 employees), our turn over rate is extremely low. In the past 90 days, two employees moved out of the area, one decided before her 30 days that it wasn't a good fit, and one was invited off our platform. This is a 92% retention rate for the quarter. We take our time to hire the best applicants based on our culture and community and strive to show our teams how much they are valued and appreciated. 3. Our expectation is that our team members would be willing to help out at any one of our offices if needed. If someone doesn't have a car, then we would not expect them to travel unless we made prior arrangements.4. We are always looking for the best support for our teams whether it be a better lab company, supplier or technology. That said, though, we have used the same supplier for over 2 years. If there is a way to provide a better quality or obtain a lower price on a standard order, then we would make the best choice for a growing business!5. Merit based raise reviews are conducted once yearly, and we compensate at or above industry standards for high quality -

Everyone is super nice and willing to help

I am currently an extern dental assistant here. From day one, everyone has helped me so much. I have learned more here than in school. When I messed up, they don't chew me out or anything. They helped me get through it with great advice and gave me confidence to continue my work. I gradually get better and better after every patient. I really do enjoy being here.

Pros

Everyone get their own locker, and new n95 mask everyday.

Thanks for your excellent review; we are glad to hear that you have felt supported and encouraged to become the best you can be!

Culture

The Culture is such a big part of the company. You don't need to know the core values as long as your own values match well with the company. Even if you don'e get the core values at first or you struggle with one of them, the company is willing to work with you and give you materials to grow. I appreciate the opportunities they have presented me, even when some of the goals we came up with were really difficult at first.

Pros

When we do well for the month production, We get staff lunches

Cons

Long days

Thanks for your super review! We are glad to know that you've been given guidance and growth opportunities during your time with us. We are excited to see how your journey unfolds.

The Culture is forced and fake. They can't keep anyone long term.

I've had many new managers during my short time here. And ive seen alot of Dentists leave the practice for one reason or another. Our company benefits appear to get worse with time. They try to project a team player atmosphere but everyone is on their own page, playing by their own rules. The owners seem to be in it to sell as quickly as they can given their unreasonable timelines for expansion, and rarely act concerned about the day to day. You are expected to work from open to close. There are no shifts. It's hard to request time off and get approved.

Pros

Good dental benefits.

Cons

No organization, Little Support from Management, Forced Culture.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. As a current employee, we encourage you to voice your concerns with your Office Manager or Lead Dentist at your location so that we can help to find solutions. If you are uncomfortable doing this in person, please submit specifics to the suggestion box in your office or through paylocity or contact your Admin team. Timber can only grow if we have more information and objective, specific concerns on which to improve. We respectfully would like to note that our benefits have either been maintained or improved (we've had a recent REDUCTION in health insurance premiums); we make sure to keep hourly employee to 40 hours or under per week, and that time off is approved provided we have sufficient time to make arrangements for coverage. Our teams have created a bond and a culture of working together for the greater good of all and for our patients. We understand that our culture and core values are not for everyone and again encourage you to have an open and honest conversation with your support team to devise a plan to improve your experience. We empower you to take charge of your future and speak to those that can help you!

High turnover rate, poor benefits, ineffective managment!

The reason why they're always hiring here is nobody wants to stay long term. That's mostly due to drama between employees and owners and no effective strategy to fix our concerns. And they pay below the average rate, have substandard hmo health insurance and no 401k or vision benefits. You can expect to almost never get a break because they are always so understaffed. The general manager is in cahoots with the owners so she never takes complaints seriously or responsibility for much. We all witnessed a mass termination of hard working employees when the Covid-19 crisis hit and the owners made promises to hire them back. But they decided it would be easier to stop communicating with them at all and outsource the positions at a lower rate instead.

Pros

Locations and offices are nice.

Cons

Lack of structure, bad managment, worse benefits, no organization.

Culture is important

Timber is working hard to improve and grow. There are still some growing pains, but our leaders listen to our needs. I know they are looking for those with a positive outlook who are committed to their profession. If you want to be successful, Timber can help you get there. We also have a robust patient population, which gives us plenty of opportunities to help our community with their dental needs.

Pros

Great team, leaders are open to new ideas

Cons

More staff needed, no 401K offered

Great culture and core values. They make a conscious effort to get the right candidates for positions to build strong teams.

Great balance of a family owned practice with the organizational perks of more established corporate dental Clinics. Everyone is down to earth and easy to talk to.

Pros

Great coworkers and facilities!

Cons

Too many staff hitting overtime regularly.
