They're basically a mini-corporate office

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
I worked at Timber for about a year before buying my own practice. From the outside looking in, it seems to be a great place to work. But once you get through their weird hiring process (multiple rounds of interviews, questions like, "what is your spirit animal?") and can see behind the curtain, you can see they are just another corporate office where profits are the main focus. They have a huge influx of new patients, which is needed because their model is to churn and burn through patients with the crappiest, lowest reimbursing insurances. The docs on average make between $8-13k per month, and you really have to work hard to get that. They try and get you to do your own prophies, push for sealants and topical fluoride. The owners are pretty hands off, except when they aren't making money. Then they'll step in and act like they care. They are strict about supplies and equipment. They are cheap with the dental labs they use. They try to have their own culture, and maybe if you're young, then you'll like it. For me it felt fake, forced, and a majority of the employees didn't like it. In talking with the staff they complained about not getting raises, being treated poorly, and not feeling valued. In their ad they mention a potential buy in, but just know that they've never actually let anyone buy in to the practices. In my talks with the owner it sounded like he was focused on growth and buying more practices rather than having the existing offices function at an ideal capacity. If you're young, in-experienced, and need a job, this place will be fine for a while. But -

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with some feedback. Many of your comments are valid, and we respectfully see the details through a different lens. Timber Dental was created six years ago as a hybrid of the best parts of a group practice and those of a private dental office. A provider that ultimately wants to be their own practice owner could understandably have a different point of view on some of our processes and not be in alignment with our operations. Our hiring process is definitely different and unique, and we think this is a good thing! We have extensive interviews and ask innovative questions to get to know our applicants as best as possible before onboarding. We strive to ask questions that are unexpected and not typical so people don't come with a prepared, canned and rehearsed response; this helps us achieve some authenticity. We like to give our new team members (especially important for our Associate Dentists) a chance to meet their new team and vice versa. In our collaborative environment, we strive to make sure that the team feels great about the potential new hire. This element is important to our culture and especially our core value of "Know and Love Our People."We do cater to our patients and like to help as many people as possible; we believe in meeting people where they are. Sometimes this means that our reimbursements by their insurance are lower than others; sometimes it means they're higher; it tends to balance out. We're confident that the experience that we provide our patients generates relationships that encourage patient -

Super Fun Team

Timber was a great place to work at. The offices are beautiful. Business owners, assistants, and staff are all friendly and eager to help each other.
