Poker Shift Manager (Former Employee) – Nichols, NY – April 23, 2018
401k with a match, 100% match at 3%, then another 2% at 50% match. 6 months in and your fully vested. Healthcare was expensive. PTO was bad. They don't give you much vacation time. My boss was awesome. Alot of the positions are in a union. Unforunately, the union is a bad idea. They protect bad employees from losing their job which ends up running some of the customers off. The place isn't very busy unless it's a holiday or special event.
The staff in the hotel could use more work on their attitudes. Everyone is so quick to jump down the others throat that nothing really gets done like it should. It also has a very disrespectful manager of the housekeeping industry who does not mind making taking her problems out on her employees.
Discounts at the places to eat
Aren't really paid what you're promised, poor working attitude
Accounts Payable Clerk (Current Employee) – Nichols, NY – December 11, 2017
Very stressful environment, no appreciation, horrible pay rates, almost every one who is employed there needs to have 2 jobs to survive. Unless you are upper management. Discounts are good but I would rather have more hourly pay and more room for advancement.
Surveillance Operator (Former Employee) – Nichols, NY – August 24, 2017
I thought surveillance was going to be cooler than working at auto zone but actually the top heads are totally scattered and unorganized and unaware of anything going on in the department. there is no training schedule in this department. you get hired and they throw you on a shift and leave you in the dark which made it harder than i thought. it takes the director and manager about 6 months to figure out if they have actually gotten a chance to train you on all of the table games because they dont know what is up or remember if they made time for you. I liked my co-workers but do yourself a favor and apply to another departrment that makes more money because you will never ever move up in that tiny closet they call "surveillance". its more like a sweat box with too many rules that you only have to abide to if supervisors figure out that they do not like you. i was clausterphobic in there day in and day out and without regret i farted a big juicy one in my surveillance chair and then walked off the job so that i could finally breath.
if you work overnights there is never a "higher up" watching over you
horrible days off and you have to work all holidays. only 5 days off a year
job is about as useful as a pogostick in quicksand
Surveillance observer (Former Employee) – Nichols, NY – June 27, 2017
I worked one week in the sureillvlance observation room nothin was as the interview persons explained. training supervisor was grinin like a mule eating garlic explaining his egomanicial training methods and female director is as warm as a mother-in-law unless you are willin to reinvent the peach seed. female employee on third shift was miserable durin oriantation and i werent told until after that i cant move to other paying jobs in other parts in casino cuz some rule that keeps observers stuck in a closet without air to breath or money in pocket.
Surveillance (Current Employee) – Nichols, NY – June 16, 2017
Tioga Downs is a great company to work for. They recognize and take care of their hard working employees and are very involved in the community. Management staff are helpful and accommodating. They are quick to address issues or concerns and work tirelessly to ensure that staff is well trained.
Surveillance Operator (Former Employee) – NY – April 30, 2017
Tioga Downs was a good company to work for except for a few coworkers who loved to make drama in the department. This made for a hostile work environment; this wasn't corrected by upper management. Management allowed personal friendships to affect their business relationship with employees.
Waitress (Part-time) (Former Employee) – Nichols, NY – January 29, 2017
A typical day at work is very fast paced because we were always busy, the co workers were very easy to work with, they made the job more fun, also the most enjoyable part of the job is the fact that its so fast paced.
