Low pay, long working hours.
SALES ASSOCIATE (Part Time) (Former Employee) - Ashburn, VA - May 28, 2020
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI enjoyed the job and the people that I worked with. The hours were long and the pay was low. Very physical job, on your feet for long stretches of time.

Fine if you just need something temporary
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Clinton, CT - September 29, 2023
Really only a good job if you are young and looking for something part time just for a few extra bucks. They don't care about your skill level and don't pay accordingky.

It's ok
Sales Floor Associate (Current Employee) - Florida - September 27, 2023
It's good as far as retail goes. As long as you have a good management team it can be a fun job. The pay isn't that great I've seen other retail companies where starting pay is much higher

great place
Store Associate (Former Employee) - Granada Hills, CA - September 26, 2023
good place to work, managers are nice. they offer good benefits and offer breaks often to avoid burnout. A lot of room for advancement as well, it is a good minimum wage role

everyone quits after a few months and new people aren't trained. the store is a mess and I end up doing everyone's job
TJ Maxx Sales Associate (Current Employee) - Greeley, CO - September 26, 2023
dealing with people is never easy. there's always tons of theifs. some managers and coworkers are very rude but I also have a group of co workers that we are all really close and it's fun with them there. the hardest part is doing other jobs that your not assigned to just because the new people don't know what to do
Pros
snacks in break room
Cons
I didn't get benefits and no one wants to work there

Good entry level job
Customer Experience Coordinator (Former Employee) - Vestal, NY - September 26, 2023
Good entry level job minimum wage and not much room for advancement. It really depends on the store you work in but I had great coworkers and managers.

I love this place! But ..
Cleaning (Current Employee) - West Milford, NJ - September 25, 2023
It's a great place to work. You're always doing something different if you aren't cashiering. HOWEVER... hours are horrendous for both part and full time. I get 4 hours a week on a bad week, and 16 on a good week. I'm part time.

Tiring and lousy
Sales Associate/Customer Service (Current Employee) - Mt. Vernon, NY - September 25, 2023
The managers suck so badly, the employees have poor attitudes and the pay is so garbage for the work they demand you too do without any raise or appreciation for it.

Jobs at TJ Maxx
Productive and Fun workplace (see description)
Sales Associate (Current Employee) - Elmira, NY - September 20, 2023
I worked at this TJ maxx for almost 3 years and absolutely loved my job. It’s pretty fast paced on busy days but also super chill. Absolutely loved management they always went above and beyond for me and were always accommodating with my hours. I made so many life long friends working there. However after transferring to another location in Charlotte NC my experience there has been nothing short of awful. No flexibility with hours whatsoever and they are not accommodating to your needs. Extremely dirty and disorganized work environment and not great communication. The pay is alright but takes a very long time to get any sort of raise. My advice is to do a lot of research on the specific location you are applying for before taking the job because it depends on the location.

Overall Decent, But Physically Demanding
Warehouse Clerk (Current Employee) - Tucson, AZ - September 19, 2023
Overall the pay and hours are good. It's a four day work week for 10 hour shifts. Seasonal overtime is a pain the butt because you get hardly any time at home, but those paychecks are fat. The supervision is awesome, but some of the AOMs (area operation manager) and other big wigs suck. The hardest part is honestly just standing on concrete for 10 hours. Once you're used to that, it's not bad. They are definitely getting more strict on certain things which is why I left, but I also just wanted a change of atmosphere. If possible, please don't go through a temp agency to get hired!! They let all temps go right before the 90 contract, you get paid less, and if you do get hired full time after being a temp, it takes you 15 months to get the full benefits of being full time. Either get hired directly through the company, or apply to a different job.
Pros
free lunch during christmas overtime, supervisors are great, pay is good
Cons
overtime season leaves no home time, very physically demanding, stressful

Work somewhere else they give you no hours
Retail Merchandiser (Current Employee) - Stow, OH - September 17, 2023
This place does not give part time workers any hours. They will gone you 3-4 hours a week and expect you to be fine with it. They will lie in the interview process and say they will give more. There are a lot of favoritism of workers and if you don’t suck up to the managers you will not get hours. there are better places to work then this company.
Pros
Free snacks
Cons
A lot of favoritism going on

Good first job
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Kissimmee, FL - September 15, 2023
Not a bad job. The managers were pretty nice and were really flexible with schedules. The only thing is the pay is pretty low but it's a great place to get retail experience.

My time here was just okay
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Milledgeville, GA - September 14, 2023
I would say working here leans towards decent. The pay is unsatisfactory. Management can be helpful yet also experienced power trips from lower to upper management. The work load in itself is steady and not over demanding; except around Xmas season it can be overwhelming. There is heavy monitoring going on at this place, that goes beyond managerial duties. Be aware that everything you SAY and do will be under review. Staff is somewhat friendly.

Mediocre
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Paducah, KY - September 13, 2023
Would not recommend for someone to work long term. I worked there for a couple of years in high school - decent pay for that age range. However the managers did not care about staff at all.

Good part time job
Sales Associate/Cashier (Former Employee) - Jefferson City, MO - September 13, 2023
Experience depends on manager at the time! Never know what kind of day it’s going to be. Great job for high school kids because they are pretty flexible and work with sports schedules.
