Program Manager (Former Employee) –  Elk Grove Village, ILApril 15, 2019
Corporate strategy is continually changing. Management gets rid of anyone who doesn't join in their fantasy. You need to agree even if it makes no sense at all.

Senior Transportation Specialist (Current Employee) –  FloridaJune 21, 2018
I work with an amazing group of people. If you are thinking about working here MAKE SURE that your salary is acceptable from the beginning. You will only receive 3% cost of living adjustments thereafter.
Pros
lots of PTO, GOOD people
Cons
stressful and at times disorganized

Good place to learn the industry. Not the best at efficiency
Sourcing Analyst (Former Employee) –  Elk Grove Village, ILJune 18, 2018
Learned a lot about category development and sourcing methods for the center store. The business practices in place make it hard to innovate as there is many issues related to their workflow

Productive Workplace- Good people, unjust management
Member Services Specialist (Current Employee) –  Elk Grove Village, ILMay 19, 2017
A typical day is very busy, but makes time fly. I've learned most no matter how much you do, and how well you do it, you will have to be great at networking to advance here. Hardest part of being at this company is being seen. I believe many good workers are over looked and do not receive the proper respect as such.
Pros
Very family oriented environment
Cons
No matter what you are great at or qualified for, you have to know the right people to advance

Engaging workplace that provided great new opportunities
Junior Pricing Specialist (Former Employee) –  Elk Grove, ILSeptember 20, 2016
A normal day as a junior pricing analyst at Topco revolved around ensuring orders placed by clientele get delivered in a timely manner. Also I would handle any complications from troublesome orders which include logistics and order reconfiguration.

I enjoyed the workplace atmosphere and culture that Topco worked hard to establish. They held creative team building exercises that revolved around holidays and new company goals. Management always treated me respectfully and allowed me the opportunity to grow and move up within the company.

Many changes since my departure. Work was demanding. Experts in aggregated pricing
Sr. Buyer (Former Employee) –  Skokie, ILJune 1, 2016
Busy demanding workload. Learned in-depth sourcing via commodity cost-drivers and unbundling to achieve TCO. Management was sometimes less than honest and insensitive. Some co-workers were professional and knowledgeable while others were less tolerant of others (lack of diversity). The hardest part of the job was to ensure satisfaction of 65 different customers. The most enjoyable part was the social activities, vendor relationships, success outcomes to established goals.
Pros
Good salary and benefits
Cons
Poor morale

Necessary but difficult to manage
Associate (Former Employee) –  ElkGrove, ILApril 22, 2015
Necessary model for customers survival, however the model gets broke when individual customers make demands outside the model.

Many associates have never worked within the industry they support.

Manager (Former Employee) –  Skokie, ILJuly 8, 2012
Unimaginative company in a sexist industry. Men do better than women. Most people who work at Topco are either frightened or scary. Senior management permits bad behavior and has little regard for employees.Private label, however, is an interesting niche.
Pros
previous president has been replaced by a less crazy person.
