Mismanagement makes success practically impossible
Project Manager (Former Employee) – Lyons, CO – January 25, 2019
I've never experienced more job insecurity in a government position, and it starts with the erratic behavior of the town administrator. Morale is low due to pay and the whimsical nature with which decisions are made. Grant funded positions pay better, but the majority of town staff are paid near minimum wage. Personnel management is lacking which means that a few are allowed to shirk their duties while the majority must pick up their slack. Only a fraction of the employees would be qualified to hold their position with other municipalities, and employment and advancement decisions can be made in a very tribal manner. Yelling, fighting and crying are common daily occurrence. Must have a tolerance for risk and professional liability, as federal raids and statutory violations do occur.
