Not the best pay but good benefits. Will train you and help you advance to your greatest potential. Coworkers there are wonderful and a great asset when tackling the many projects that flow through Toxikon.

I did not enjoy working here. Pay is below standard. Flexible working hours is not an option here. Health insurance benefits are below standard. Owner and senior management do not change with the sign of the times.

Toxikon hires new graduates and desperate experienced workers and squeezes them dry.
Study Director (GLP) (Former Employee) –  Bedford, MAOctober 2, 2018
Toxikon is a revolving door. They hire new graduates and those that are in a desperate point in their lives, works them to death, and the lucky move on. Consider a job at Toxikon only if you need a paycheck to keep from being homeless.
Pros
They will hire anyone with a pulse
Cons
Extremely low pay.

QUALITY CONTROL AUDITOR, RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (Former Employee) –  Bedford, MASeptember 10, 2018
The position I was in was difficult as there was more work than the techs could handle, and upper management micromanaged. However, the teamwork amongst the team members is what got you through the day. The skills learned were also very useful to master quick and get out of there while you can.
Pros
Skills learned to boost your experience in moving out in a new company, comradery
Cons
Micromanagement, workload on the lower pecking order positions, low pay for lower positions compared to the amount of work given to accomplish

Only good for experience
Research Associate I In Vivo (Former Employee) –  Bedford, MAAugust 27, 2018
If you're desperate for job experience go here but you'll regret the decision. Not enough people to carry out studies properly. You don't get rewarded for working overtime but you get angry emails about leaving 5 minutes early. Upper management constantly berates their employees. Departments hate each other. Toxikon is a toxic place to work.
Pros
Free coffee on Fridays but take too much and you'll get fired
Cons
work and life balance, benefits, overworked

Get experience and get out.
Study Director (Current Employee) –  Bedford, MAMay 12, 2018
A great work environment at the ground level. There is a great deal of camaraderie built here around mistrust of management and mistreatment of the working force. The best of their workforce is generally pushed out the door by below industry average pay and lack of opportunity to grow and advance your career. Management picks and chooses how they implement very open-ended policies (and job descriptions). Their pay/promotion structure is imaginary and reviews are by demand only (despite a stated regular schedule). Do not expect regular wage increase (no cost of living) and Toxikon does not give bonuses. Get in, get experience, move on. The weighted average years experience in Toxikon for the people you will be working with is about 1-2 years.
Pros
The people at the ground level
Cons
Pay, Benefits, Upper management

Document Control Specialist (Former Employee) –  Bedford, MAJanuary 12, 2018
Having a manger that truly believed in you was amazing, she set the bar high and helped me have a better understanding of the compliance world. I left because I was suppose to re locate with my husband for the military. Only down side was the pay was less than the industry standard.

Aweful place to work.
Study Director (Current Employee) –  Bedford, MANovember 28, 2017
Aweful place to work. Wouldn't recommend anyone. Extremely underpaid. Lot of stress, no trust in employees. Human Resources will keep track of your arrival and departure. Camera's everywhere making working environment like a prison... Not that I have that experience. Looking for better opportunities and will leave soon after few miserable years.

Study Director (Former Employee) –  Bedford, MAJuly 3, 2017
I had a good time working at Toxikon. I met very good people! The team is willing to help you at anything. A lot of pressure but not enough people to do the job.
Toxikon needs to improve your systems and logistics; hire enough people to do the jobs; keep your good workers by making their jobs do-able and not a constant struggle, and the most important Increase their salaries!
Pros
Free coffee and casual Fridays. Lots of nice people!
Cons
lack of people

You won't get paid what you're worth, and you won't get the resources you need to do your job
Lab Technician (Current Employee) –  Bedford, MAMay 2, 2017
Because people are underpaid, there is a company-wide lack of accountability that inhibits productivity. Colleagues don't hesitate to interfere with your work, and are quick to insist that you stop what you're doing to resolve the problem they created. There are a few key players that handle all of the responsibilities -- work is not evenly distributed. Management is inconsistent at best, incompetent at worst.
Pros
You can get a job here if you really need a job
Cons
Good luck accomplishing anything with the lack of cooperation, consideration, and competence

Excellent place to gain experience
Study Director (Former Employee) –  Bedford, MASeptember 4, 2013
Toxikon is a great place for a young person or a person who is new to the field to gain experience. I learned a lot while I was there. That said, there isn't a lot of opportunity for growth. They're always swamped so don't be surprised if you have to work late and come in on weekends. Everyone is stressed, always. Pay is below market value. Management has a veritable obsession with everyone being at work precisely at 8:00. It was a painful few years, but if you work to their standards and accept what they give, when you arrive at your next job, you will be a superb employee, if a slightly broken human.
