Underpaid and under appreciated
Remote Phone Center Interpreter (Former Employee) –  Oracle, AZMay 16, 2018
Going rate for free lance interpreters are at least $25/hr. Starting rate is $15/hr. Working a remote location provides minimal to no tech support and if you have a problem, management will not accept technical difficulties as an acceptable reason for logging in late. Interpretation for clients are very challenging at times as clients will start speaking even while you are speaking.
Pros
Work from home
Cons
Substandard health insurance, minimal break times and "lunch" break, no tech support

Okay temp job
Interpreter, Translator (Former Employee) –  Manhattan, NYApril 12, 2018
Overall an okay temp job. It was as needed so basically not a job that one could rely on to pay the bills. It was a supplemental option of employment. Management was not always accessible. Hardest part of the job was that if there were no assignments, there was no work for you to do and thus, no money to be earned.
Pros
flexible

University feeder program, churn and burn. Overworked and underpaid. Management does the minimum, but there is no sense of pride. Culture is antagonistic.

Energetic and young workplace
Director, Business Development (Former Employee) –  Washington, DCMarch 7, 2018
TransPerfect's culture has long been awarded. Over the last few years and under the very public shareholder dispute, the company's culture began to erode. Company politics became more important than ever and often of greater importance than the work being performed for clients. It's not all bad as there are still many terrific employees at the company. I simply feel the company lost it's way when many senior level managers seemed to be jockeying for position while trying to appease warring shareholders. This positively affected some people's take home pay while at the same time burning others. Once the dispute is completely resolved, hopefully a collaborative and welcoming culture will return.
Pros
Entrepreneurial, opportunity, growth, place to learn about business
Cons
Inconsistent pay, work/life balance difficult for most to achieve, politics

Fixable Issues
Account Executive (Former Employee) –  San Francisco, CAFebruary 26, 2018
The interview process alone took over 4 months
Lack of communication is very obvious - upon hire, it is not the new employees job to go searching through a massive company for where their work equipment is - if this is an issue that has been brought up numerous time, then fix it.
There is a lack of teamwork for pursuing new lines of business where industry competitors are having success in
The compensation isn't even competitive for the area
There are issues in communications between colleagues, if there is an issue in fitting in with the team, they will make it obvious - very childish, but when these issues are present at the top then it is bound to work its way through the organization
Pros
Good Service
Cons
lacking confidence in being a part of the competition, communication issues, low pay, issues at the top

Terrible workplace
Project Manager (Former Employee) –  New YorkFebruary 26, 2018
Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this company. It is the most dysfunctional and corrupt company i have ever come across. They make false promises to get you to join the company and NEVER deliver. The sales department is basically set up as a pyramid scheme, they take advantage of the sales associates and a few people up top pocket all the money. The quality of work produced is quite often terrible quality as they falsely advertise the experience of their linguists. There is no work life balance, you are expected to work day and night. The only benefit to having worked here is the couple of great people i befriended.

Quality Assurance Specialist (Current Employee) –  Tempe, AZFebruary 13, 2018
I wasn't being compensated for the amount I was expected to do. It's a stressful environment and you never feel secure in your role. There weren't any opportunities for advancement or raises. There a micromanaging culture and as good as you are at your job, you aren't trusted to do your job without someone over your shoulder. Good luck!
Pros
It's a job
Cons
poor management, stressful, no opportunities for advancement.

No room for growth
Recruitment Specialist/HR (Current Employee) –  New York, NYFebruary 6, 2018
The company is big, well recognize and overall good presence. There is not much culture here, no room for growth or higher wage. Once you are in one position it seems that is exactly where you will stay, Not much motivation or incentive here.

Privately owned hellscape race-to-the-bottom translation company
Project Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Corvallis, ORJanuary 30, 2018
There are some great people trapped here, working really hard. Your opportunity to advance is basically zero unless someone dies or gives up, and most of the shop is kids willing to work 55 hrs a week for not much pay. The systems in place are laughably bad but at the top, they just want to squeeze as much profit as possible out of each production center, and don't care about improving process or product. Translators are paid the absolute minimum and the finished product is low quality.
Pros
Always hiring! :-)
Cons
Dumpster fire company

PROJECT MANAGER (Current Employee) –  New York, NYJanuary 17, 2018
-Litigation and company being sold adversely affected pay raises and promotion.
-what I learned: how to remain calm while managing a million tasks at once while being yelled at.
-management: doesn't care about your growth or advancement, or you at all.
-workplace culture: People that don't care for change or growth and building in NYC is old and not kept up.
-hardest part of the job: staying chill when your workload is piling up
-most enjoyable part of the job: working with people from around the world

Stressful, power hungry management with no idea of work/life balance
Account Manager (Current Employee) –  United StatesJanuary 4, 2018
No workplace culture like they make you believe from the interview and there is no belief in work life balance. If you're not losing hair or stressing for over 10 hours a day... "you're not committed." Management is only about making money and not about training or building their employees.

I liked it here more than most people
Project Manager (Former Employee) –  New York, NYDecember 7, 2017
Let me start with the positive: I miss the culture here a lot. It's a collaborative, fun, and relaxed environment that is hard to find anywhere, let alone at such a large company. However, with that also comes a lack of structure and organization that made it challenging to work here at times. Management isn't always supportive or clear in terms of trajectory for advancement, and the starting salary here is abysmal. Also, the work life balance can be awful. I didn't have terrible hours, but some of my coworkers stayed after midnight regularly.
Pros
Great company culture
Cons
Long hours, terrible pay, bad management

working from home
translator of Croatian & English (Current Employee) –  Biloxi, MSDecember 7, 2017
There is a fine line between the convenience from working at home and my overall compensation. These assignments are given based on availability. In many instances, the job goes to the person who responds the quickest. It also depends upon having experience in the domain of translation.

Interpreter Mandarin-English (Current Employee) –  Tempe, AZOctober 25, 2017
Many calls and less mandarin interpreters. Only paid 13 per hour. But they provide insurances, which is good. And people working there is very nice. It is okay that if you want to take as a temporary job.

The People are what really makes the place
Senior Project Manager (Current Employee) –  New York, NYOctober 23, 2017
Love the people I work with but in the Project Manager role, there is only so much room for growth. Reviews that are attached to promotions and raises are often postponed. I don't mind working long hours but the compensation is not enough. I don't feel passionate about my job but I will really miss the relaxed and supportive company culture.
Pros
Monthly team lunches, relaxed work environment, tries to promote a positive work environment
Cons
Compensation doesn't match long hours, often Sales is over promises and doesn't communicate well with Production
