Great Team and Department, Love Working Here

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
I currently work here and overall greatly enjoy it. The department I work in is incredibly transparent, there is open communication and management is likable. My boss is the best I've ever had so far and I feel that he genuinely cares about me and my coworkers. The people I work with on the daily are kind and we make a great team, and I can say the same for the supervisors and project managers. Since starting here I've gained many new skills in my industry, had two decent pay increases and got to travel. My only complaint is knowing better what's to come for new projects or expectations for pay. I feel it may be a bit low nationally speaking but is enough I get by fien where I live. Engineers and Field personnel are treated as disposable "resources" and their turnover is high compared to my department, which is overall more stable. If you're hired full time to begin with, you're set depending on the team. If you're a temp, always be on the lookout for a different opportunity. They may just let you go.In sim, if you're coming here for GIS, I 1000% recommend this company. The management and supervisors are genuine, willing to teach you and help you grow as a new employee.

Pros

Remote, Good Opportunities, Great Manager

Cons

Temps are disposable, Wish pay was a tad better

Not worth the stress

What is the best part of working at the company? They pay for you to get your license but don't make sure that it is a good work environment. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? They preach inclusivity but it is anything but that. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Good old boys club still going strong. What is a typical day like for you at the company? The day starts early and you don't know what you are doing until the day before or even day of.

Good people and a team mentaltity

Good people and a good atmosphere. Project managers tend to take care of their staff and safety is a priority. Junior staff do spend a lot of time in the field, but are given opportunities to advance.

Pros

Good people

High hopes. Horrible experience

Very poorly ran organization. There is a lot of confusion between them and the contractor they hire you through to do their bidding and dirty work. It took several attempts and days from IT to get me set up. As soon as I was it was all irrelevant because I was fired. No talk.No communication to try to address concerns and set expectations. Nothing. Just gone. They do not value people at all!

Pros

Remote Don’t have to report to the office everyday. Base salary

Cons

Miscommunication confusion. Not valued as a employee or person. Lack of performance based pay.

Mission-focused professional colleagues

Excellent internal communications; access to management up & down. Some nepotism and appointment of midlevel managers based on political contacts not professional accomplishments. Excellent benefits, compensation on par with the industry.

Pros

Fringe benefits; contributory 402k and insurances.

Cons

Nepotism

Great people who are all still working mostly remote. Not great for employee morale.

After 5 good years with the company the work culture and dynamic has completely changed to working entirely remote from home. Would rather return to office and function as a team player,.

Pros

Original Office Environment, Work Culture and Balance of Life

Cons

Repetitive work. individual producer, Diminishing Healthcare Benefits

Dysfunctional

Not all divisions are the same. Unfortunately, the division I worked in became a dysfunctional mess with barely any help from corporate leadership. The management team I worked with was extremally arrogant, basically they felt everyone was replaceable. This is why most people have moved on.

Typical Consultant owned by PE Firm

I got to the point where I hated coming in to the office. Trying to be woke and concerned with diversity more than the employees. Management lies to you and always pushes for unethical outcomes - always!!!

Pros

Don't have to come in to work

Cons

Don't have to come in to work

Stressful, but rewarding.

Working out of the air measurement office in Bakersfield was an amazing experience, the safety culture there and at the rest of the company that has been unmatched anywhere else in the industry. When you are brought on as a new employee you actually feel like the company and other staff care about you and want you to succeed in the position your in. If I wanted to come back into this industry, without a doubt I would come back to TRC.

Pros

Huge safety culture, Extremely knowledge coworkers

Cons

Low pay, 75% travel, long hours 12+ regularly

Intern, working as a planner

Great opportunity for those starting out in the environmental sector, different opportunities to get hand on experience. Everyone is very helpful, knowledgeable coworkers. The internship program is amazing, the HR team is very helpful, they make sure that the interns are having a good time and getting the experience necessary to advance in their career. Management could be a little more involved.

Pros

Flexible Schedule, remote opportunity

Good company

I worked remote and routed questions and concerns to the appropriate person. No problems with my job. Job ended. I knew this was a temporary position so I didn’t expect it to be permanent.

Good Place

The company is a good company, they have a good culture and a well rounded executive management tier team. The real issue is communication from the next management tier trickling down to everyone else. Corporate is understaffed, billable time is the top priority over health/happiness, high turnover rate. Benefits are meh and compensation could be better.

Pros

People, Culture, Pto, Floating Holiday

Cons

Growth potential and pay (depending on sector)

Really Great Company

Great company culture with exceptional leadership. The only issue was insecure job at the time due to changes in oil and gas in the economy. I would definitely recommend working here, just be aware of the ebb and flow of the industry.

Wonder Group of People and Wonderful Place to Work

I cherish my entire time at TRC. Great management. They trusted their employees to get the job done & were very supportive of your personal life as well. They cared that there was a balance. Checked in on a regular basis to ensure employees were happy, well-compensated, and growing. Open door policy with all management. Did not matter your position, if you wanted to have a meeting with your boss, the CFO, or the VP they made time for their people. I will always only have great things to say about my time at TRC.

Pros

Supported by management, great salary, felt valued, cared about your personal life

Cons

Cannot think of any

Nice employees, but money came before all else

Generally speaking it was a good place to work. They planned events/ get togethers to keep morale up and build relationships with coworkers and there were quite a few free lunches. They also allowed for a lot of independence. My main concern is the vibe that was always present that money comes first. Obviously that's important for a company, but when it comes to cleaning up the environment you would think there would be emphasis on that. There was a ton of pressure for billable work. Also, you won't likely be able to stay on the technician track. At a certain point you either become a project manager or stop getting any raises.

Company did not keep managers in the loop.

Company owners (from California) did not have a good idea of the operations necessary to be successful in Florida and provided direction based on false understanding of key business regulations.

Pros

Very limited interference from managers

Cons

Poor guidelines to foster business success
