Don’t do it

In whole, this place was the worst work experience of my life. There’s a multitude of problems that management just turns a blind eye to no matter how many times the issue is brought up. The associates at the firm are amazing people but management will sink this place. There’s little to no direction and you are immediately expected to be hitting your billables (of which are monitored daily). To the reviews that suggest this is such a lovely place to work, you have to wonder how much of that is management writing reviews. The morale of the associates is horrific and I never knew one person who was happy in their position.

Official response from Tully Rinckey PLLC

Thank you for your feedback. We regret to hear about your less-than-ideal experience. However, we believe it's essential to address your concerns and provide a more balanced perspective. Our corporate structure consists of multiple layers of management and diverse leadership positions, which we continuously evaluate to foster positive changes and address issues as they arise. We are committed to adapting and improving based on the feedback we receive. Over time, we have implemented new strategies and initiatives to enhance the integration of our attorneys within the organization. Our primary objective is to retain our employees, and we have taken prompt action to address concerns and provide open channels for employee feedback. It's important to note that not everyone shares the same experience, and it may be an exaggeration to claim that no one is content in their roles. We have dedicated team members who have been with us for over a decade, progressing from law clerks to partners. Moreover, we are proud to have former attorneys return to our firm after exploring other opportunities. We are committed to continually striving for attorney satisfaction. Regarding our billable hours model, while it may differ from traditional law firms, we believe it has been a successful and competitive approach in our industry. We maintain that our model is on par with any peer firm that has similar requirements. We appreciate your feedback and remain dedicated to improving our firm and ensuring the satisfaction of our attorneys. Your input helps us grow and adapt as an organization.

A place to work at for years to come

It's fun to get with the team everyday and discuss the priorities of the day. we may go off solo and complete tasks on our own or team up and work that way. A great company that makes sure everyone is on the same page with training and daily functions.

Pros

Simple and stress free interview process, Detailed onboarding process where you are treated like family from day one, Professional and quiet environment to work in, Surrounded with great places to eat during lunch hour, A company that makes job training a priority

Cons

I ate the last bag of pretzels from vending machine, they are quick to refill though so not really a con

Fast Paced and Very Fulfilling Place to Work

I spent the majority of my career working for a solo practitioner and was a bit nervous working for such a large firm. My worries quickly vanished once I was placed with my attorneys. I absolutely love the atmosphere, the other Assistants are so helpful with new hires. I love the work and being busy. My attorneys are amazing and trust my skills in the work I produce.

Positive Review of Law Clerk Position: Valuable Experience, Flexible Management, and Continuous Work Load

The experience I've gained at Tully Rinckey PLLC has been incredibly valuable. I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of legal projects, including legal research and writing, and have been able to develop my legal skills under the guidance of experienced attorneys. One thing I appreciate about this position is the flexibility that management has shown when it comes to scheduling and work arrangements. This has helped me to achieve a better work-school balance and has allowed me to continue to work effectively, even during busy periods. Overall, I have found that this law clerk position provides a continuous work load that keeps me engaged and challenged. I would highly recommend this position to anyone interested in gaining valuable experience in the legal field.

Labor and Employment Law Team is rock solid

I started right out of law school. I wanted to practice Labor and Employment Law and I learned a lot about the law and also about the business of law. This law firm holds people accountable but i worked a solid 8-10 hour day and I got promotions and good bonus money. I made a mistake when I left for a gov't job (about the same pay just $5k less per yr but no bonus) after my baby was born. I worked a solid 2 hours a day and was bored plus I missed helping individuals fight the system. I just applied for my old job because I miss the people, the work, and the pay.

Pros

Training both in house CLEs and I went to a 3 day conference every year

Cons

Some co-workers who failed to hit their hours and complained about the firm

Massive turnover problem

Tully Rinckey constantly boasts about being one of the fastest growing firms in the country. That is absolutely not true because the firm has been plagued my massive turnover since its inception. The number of offices may grow, but the number of full time associates and partners remains static because of the high turnover. They burn through new associates, and bleed them for whatever they can get out of them before they leave and a new batch of rookies is brought in. It is a vicious cycle that management doesn't want to hear about.

Pros

Bagels on Wednesdays

Cons

High turnover and tone deaf management

Great Workplace!

It's a great learning and safe environment, also they are very flexible and I feel in a stress free atmosphere where you can trust your coworkers in anything you need help with. We have great benefits and a great management.

Pros

We get breaks during the day, a great friendly networking company, and we have a voice!

Unrealistic Billable Hour Requirements

The 38 hour weekly minimum for billable hours is not sustainable, especially when administrative time isn't tracked, mentoring time isn't tracked, and business development time isn't tracked. Further, if there's no money left on retainer (even through no fault of your own) or if you forget to enter your hours by noon the next day, your hours are "disqualified" or don't count.

Great Company to grow in

Tully Rinckey is a good company to work for because it helps you get your foot into the door in the legal industry. The job is rewarding and they truly care about their employees.

Emphasis on billable hours

There was a huge emphasis on billable work hours which is very difficult to fulfill. Although they mention that you are not obligated to accept every case that you are asked to cover, that is not always the case. The Senior partners are not always nice to deal with.

Great place to work with a lot of support

A typical day for me starts very early and is very busy from the beginning of the day until I clock out for the day. I have learned many new programs that assist me daily. The management has been good to me since day one and is always there should I have a problem or to make suggestions. Everyone is very friendly and willing to help. The pace some days is very fast and before I know it it is time to clock out for the day. The relationships that I have with the other staff throughout the firm is amazing. I feel very appreciated and enjoy working here very much.

Great culture with Top Down Support

Tully Rinckey is a great organization to work for. The work is demanding and expectations are high, but the support and structure required to be successful are accounted for. Managers receive top down support and employees really do feel appreciated. If you appreciate a structured, process driven work environment, this is a great place for you.

Pros

Client driven, employee centric Firm - great balance to support the business goals and the employees

Cons

If you not willing to work hard and fit in with the structure and processes, you will not be successful.

Great Workplace

I came into this job not knowing anything legal or Military, I have been here a little over 2 years and I have learned a crazy amount of information. The trainings are great knowledge. You are always asked what types of training you need, so its nice having a manager that always has your best interest in mind. I enjoy coming to work everyday and being part of this team!!!

Fast Paced Team Environment

I've been with the Firm for over 11 years and over those years the environment has adapted/changed. I started as a secretary and worked my way up. The best part of my job is that we have a large team that spreads across the United States and you would never even know that we are all in different locations because it is a very friendly/tech savvy environment - and we all develop working relationships with each other. We use video phones in all of our offices, so we feel like we are a lot closer than we physically are. We are constantly evolving, changing with the times, and there are a lot of really great people on the team and everyone is hard working and dedicated. This is definitely not a soft cushiony office job, and you can't just sit on your phone all day because we are extremely busy all the time. It is a sink or swim environment and those who work hard, ask questions and are willing to learn tend to do very well. I've learned so much in my rolls at the Firm. Management is clear on expectations and setting goals for you. We give structured guidance on how to achieve your goals, which I love. I really love what I do and the people I work with.

Pros

The Staff/Team and Special Events like VETCON and Turkeys for Vets; Internal Promotions

Great team at Tully Rinckey - no wonder why we are growing so fast

The team at Tully Rinckey is the most collegial I have worked during my entire career. Managers and owners truly care about staff and clients. There is purpose to the work that we do, leadership potential for those who are looking for it and for those who want to come in every day and have a stable job, that opportunity also exists. We have over 120 employees, 30 practice areas in 12 locations, there are not many law firms in our various locations that can say that!

Pros

Work life balance, management team that cares about it's employees, technology

Cons

A lot of changes as we are a growing company, it's not for everyone

It’s Alright

Not payed enough to do what is asked of you. Ran like a sunken ship. Managers picking favorites, negative energy, and overall just not good. Needs to change.

Pros

Flexibility with doctor appointments

Cons

Pay
