Phone Operator (Former Employee) – Pawtucket, RI – October 9, 2018
I dont recommend it. Not a good place to work. Too much work and not enough workers. They audit your calls but dont give raises. I would never work there again. Great job experience as far as the work you do. Gives you knowledge of medical terminology.
Customer Service Rep (Former Employee) – Long Island City, NY – October 23, 2018
I leave Tunstall thankful. Being a member of this company has allowed me to provide for my family. I thank this company for providing so graciously. Now, it is time for me to provide in other ways, via my presence. As tunstall moves forward I move forward as well, toward a continued commitment to my family.
Company has a lot of potential. Not the right people to help the company reach it.
CSR - Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) – Pawtucket, RI – October 5, 2018
The company needs to remove and replace a lot of the staff at the Pawtucket, RI. location. From as low as most of the newest hires to as high as the "Executive Assistant" to the company. Who, by the way, is extremely disrespectful and condescending to seemingly anyone who does not match her skin tone or is not above her position in the company. The managers are great for the most part. Half of the supervisors are great as well. The other half need to actually supervise. The pay you receive does not adequately compensate individuals for the amount of work expected of them. As in most cases, you get what you pay for.
Manager (Former Employee) – Colorado – September 9, 2018
Benefits are good, have to work 90 days before you get them which is normal. Most in the management level are out for themselves, any concerns that are brought up about other employees, management practices are just pushed to the side, Even HR doesn't follow through on issues. Be cautious.
CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE AGENT (Former Employee) – Long Island City, NY – August 28, 2018
Work was easy. It wasn,t stressful. I learned a lot about customer service and communicating with impatient people. Management was very fair. the hardest part of the job had to be dealing with impatient people. The enjoyable part was serving people successfully.
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) – Pawtucket, RI – August 7, 2018
I have nothing to say regarding my job at this time. I will go back and write my review in the future. I've been at my job for more then a year, became a supervisor in less then a year that was a plus. Currently still a supervisor
Client Service Representative (Former Employee) – Hawaii – July 25, 2018
Tunstall Hawaii has an a good team. The regional manager leads with good intentions that focuses on teamwork and company mission. The Hawaii regional team to include field service technicians and client service specialists work closely together by constantly communicating and learning from one another. Very good work environment.
Employee benefits and perks, 3-4 weeks Paid Time Off, 401k match, excellent work-life balance, there is always work to do stay gainfully employed, good company culture
limited advancement opportunities in Hawaii region
Manager (Former Employee) – Colorado – July 14, 2018
The company culture of Tunstall (aka American Medical Alert) is very negative. Senior leadership is only concerned about their own egos and not the company mission, employee development and satisfaction, or improving the service being provided to customers (which has gone down the toilet). Employee evaluation seems pointless as there is rarely any follow-up from managers or opportunity for meaningful raises or advancement, and decisions that need urgent actions, even for security concerns, take months or even YEARS because nobody is willing to take responsibility for anything.
The leadership team all works in silos, there is very little productive or collaborative communication between departments or offices (which are in many different states), and little to no communication from them to the company employees about the health, finances, goals, or direction of the company other than "you need to do this or else".
The corporate mission is great and employees can have the satisfaction of knowing they helped somebody, or even possibly saving a life, and the health benefits (if you can afford them) are pretty good. PTO/sick time is pretty low compared to other companies this size and depending on the department, some schedules are not flexible at all. HR will not negotiate salary or benefits at all for new hires, so don't waste your time trying... and they wonder why they have such high turnover...
Depending on the department and manager, new employee training is fine in some places, and grossly inadequate in others. Pay is very low for front-line workers and there aremore... very few opportunities for professional advancement unless you want to relocate and are qualified for a different job. In addition, the technology and platforms used by this company are ancient, inefficient, and make even the simplest function of documenting a customer request take minutes (with manual email follow up) instead of seconds.
Supervisors and managers are encouraged to speak up, share ideas, point out challenges, and help develop 'company culture' on their teams even though HR and executives are apparently not expected to follow suit. Those that do speak up, build a good culture on their team, and genuinely contribute towards making things better for employees and customers get let go due to "restructuring" or "company wide financial cuts".less
Health benefits (if you can afford them), helping customers, supportive manager and coworkers (in some places)
Almost no opportunity for meaningful salary growth or professional development, bad culture, Out-of-touch CEO and leadership team, low pay for front-line workers, some departments are grossly understaffed - 1 employee does the work of 2 or more
Horrible stressful environment low pay for hard work
Costumer Service Representative (Former Employee) – Long Island City, NY – June 24, 2018
Tun stall has unprofessional management no opportunity to move up the ladder benefits are costly pay is horrible stressful environment dont waste your time they will hire and fire when its beneficial for them ghetto enviroment
Manager (Former Employee) – Pawtucket, RI – May 29, 2018
This company is going down the tubes, and fast. People get away with disrespect, the pay is awful, there is no company culture. It's too bad because of the basics of helping people every day is motivating but you are kicked down all the time. Discouraging and you would be doing yourself a disservice by thinking you can excel here.
Customer Service (Current Employee) – New York, NY – May 29, 2018
This company has poor management and treats employees unfairly. Many of management's mistakes and faulty mishaps fall upon the employees to handle. Often times employees not reciprocated for stepping up and resolving issues that should have been handled by some one in higher position.
Short breaks, Expensive Medical Benefits, Bad management
Emergency call center operator (Current Employee) – Pawtucket, RI – May 23, 2018
People here are rachet. Literal fist fights all the time. They just laid people off so they could hire new people cheaper. Bed bug and roach infestations are horrible and we're about to get shut down by OSHA. Management will literally cuss you out if you question them. Job advancement is based on how much they like you, not how good you are, aka our shift leads/ supervisors are horrible, unprofessional, and don't know how to lead but there are multiple people in the department with management experience who are way better at the job that the shift leads who would never even be considered for a raise and/or promotion.
Bilingual phone operator (Former Employee) – Pawtucket, RI – May 22, 2018
Tunstall was different being a bilingual phone operator.. Receving calls from all over NYC.. doctors, ppl etc.. Also started dealing with insurance witch was metro plus.. Learned and gained experience from job..
Operations Manager (Former Employee) – Pawtucket, RI – May 22, 2018
This company received a grant from the state to hire from the unemployment pool. Non qualified candidates came into the company without interviewing from anyone but the HR department. It was a very challenging day, call outs no one wanted to come to work. Leads and supervisors were not qualified to lead staff members. Call reps bullied each other and leadership team. The call center was infested with bed bugs. One Manager was overworked to take the time to check into anything that was a complaint. HR did not respond to complaints. Was not an enjoyable job for me. I left shortly after hiring.
