Jobs at Turning Leaf Residential Rehabilitation Services
Unorganized, questionable ethics
Behavioral Health Technician (Former Employee) - Lansing, MI - September 10, 2023
I worked here in 2018 so I hope it has changed significantly since then. The management did not communicate about expectations, your job assignment would change on the spot, and the stuff required on paper was often not possible to be completed because of the lack of resources available.

Residents
DSP (Direct Support Professional) (Former Employee) - Lansing, MI - May 23, 2023
I loved working here. The residents made my heart full. Management was shaky at times but the residents make up for a lot of it. Cottage and 1 on 1 shifts were always the best.

Not recommended
DSP (Direct Support Professional) (Current Employee) - Lansing, MI - April 19, 2023
No benefits. Lack of communication. High turn over rated. Most people have been employed way less than a year. New procedures are not communicated with staff.

DSP (Direct Support Professional) (Former Employee) - Lansing, MI - January 20, 2023
Failed at communicating, never respects their employees personal lives. It was good at first but they didn’t care about the residents or employees. sometimes my check wasn’t even the right amount. they need to work better and look at new people to fill higher positions to succeed.
Cons

Challenging but Rewarding
Leadership Team Member (Current Employee) - Michigan - December 8, 2022
Working alongside some dedicated managers and administrators across the state, I'm proud to work for this organization. We create long term homes for those for some of the most vulnerable population in the state of Michigan. Managers know residents well and can assist with any questions you have. The work is challenging at times, but overall, the residents and coworkers make it worthwhile. If you have interest in helping people, being a role model/mentor and making a difference, this job is for you! If you are currently pursing a degree or certificate in psychology, social work or any human service related field - nursing, CNA, PCT this is the job for you. If you can make it in behavioral health - you can make it anywhere!! The work is what YOU make it and this company honors and values those who are committed. Almost all management level started as DSP so there is room for moving up in the company!
Pros
social environment, residents, free food, flexible schedule
Cons
This job may not be a good fit for those who have their own mental health concerns

Fun to interact with clients
Na (Former Employee) - Vicksburg, MI - October 6, 2022
Clients are great. Management is unavailable and blind or ignorant. They seem to not want to communicate at all. Leave messages and never get a call. Forget the idea they hit the floor to help
Pros
Being with the clients
Cons
Management

Horrible work environment
Direct Support Professional (Former Employee) - Lansing, MI - August 16, 2022
The staff and management are horrible they only care about themselves and the cliques they make wouldn’t recommend working there only good part about my job was the residents and building a bond with them other wise very unprofessional and no good job stability the boss lives on campus with residents because she has no where else to go her and her children!! that should tell alot about the place SAVE YOURSELF trust me!!!
Pros
The residents
Cons
The management and staff very unprofessional

No advancement and poor management
Lead Direct Support Professional (Former Employee) - Holland, MI - August 9, 2022
Upper management (program managers and their supervisor) choose favorites and treat people certain ways based on that. There is no advancement in this job, so you can expect to stay at your pay rate no matter how long you work there and HR (literally one person) does not help with problem solving within the workplace or anything, really, so don’t expect to reach out to them and get a good response. The houses are poorly run and the program manager is never actually on site. Upper management is not LGBTQIA-friendly. The only upsides are that lower level managers (leads and assistant program managers) are LGBTQIA-friendly and the job is simple and they offer flexible scheduling.
Pros
Flexible scheduling
Cons
No pay increase, poor management, favoritism in the workplace

Professional and Fun work place
Direct Support Professional (Former Employee) - Pentwater, MI - June 3, 2022
I have worked for several places caring for people's needs, but Turning Leaf was by far the greatest place I have worked. They care not only for residents, also their employees.. I consider them all my family. Life changes were my only reason for leaving. They are all very deeply missed. You will not regret a career with this company, definitely a long term suitable.
Pros
Everything
Cons
Not many

Horrible
Direct Support Professional (Former Employee) - Vicksburg, MI - February 8, 2022
I worked here for 8 months and the management was so unprofessional and 90% of the residents didn’t even like the managers. I quit because they didn’t care about their staff all they cared about was theirselves and the money. Personally I loved all my residents so much, it was a super hard decision to leave. Don’t recommend working for childish management.
