Mission Driven work environment. Supports employees and creates a team environment.
Recruiter/ Canvasser (Current Employee) –  Carrollton, GAMay 3, 2019
My tenure with the United States Navy was rewarding. The work environment was productive while still encouraging a family like workplace. Oppurtunity for promotion was fair. Superiors did an excellent job of making sure personnel were given the tools to succeed and off the clock. All employees were thoroughly trained on how to do their job and given opportunities to seek positions of higher authority. Occasionally, working hours were long and last minute changes were thrown into the workload.
Pros
Pay, People
Cons
Occasional extended working hours

fast paced and something new everyday
Aviation Ordnanceman (Former Employee) –  Norfolk, VAJuly 17, 2019
A typical non-deployed day at work was fairly simple yet unpredictable. One minute you could be drinking your coffee and the next you're running to perform emergency maintenance on a vital piece of equipment.

Aviation Ordnanceman (Current Employee) –  Newport News, VAJune 13, 2019
Terrible leadership, PC culture is slowly taking over but yah know you'll make some of the best friends, you'll end up never talking to them again. Make the best memories and then probably be depressed but hey job security.
Pros
Benefits, sea stories, uniforms
Cons
Depression, possible PTSD, bad back

The Navy is one of the main 4 branches of the military. Like anything; you get what you put in. I know that after my discharge I had enough benefits and money from other programs to go from no college to a. MBA without have to get any student debt.
Pros
Military
Cons
Long Hours

Long hours, low salary, poor leadership, but great travel benefits.
Aviation Ordnanceman (Current Employee) –  Oak Harbor, WAMay 23, 2019
Long hours, low salary, poor leadership, but great travel benefits. Great stepping stone for people fresh out of high school, but no longer competitive with civilian jobs in terms of pay. However qualifications attained in active duty will transfer to civilian jobs.
Pros
Travel
Cons
Everything else

If you want a career that can take you out of the normal day to day join the Navy. Within a short time of never being outside of my hometown I had traveled up and down the east coast of the United States before ultimately venturing to over 8 countries.

Very fast paced, busy, energetic. The people are amazing and the atmosphere is very inviting. The work load can be heavy at time but its very rewarding once it is all done.

Aviation Ordnanceman (Former Employee) –  Norfolk, VAApril 23, 2019
A normal day at work included preparing the helicopters and weapons for their daily flights and operation. Most days were fast paced, but with great leadership upfront, no task was too big for us to handle

The Navy is a proud line of work for anyone hoping to do some right in the world. Politics aside, you'd be hard pressed to find any Sailor who has anything bad to say about the job; working and making a difference- you get out as a civilian and you look at the ocean; you can do nothing but remember all the great times you've had. Hard Work, Great Pay- Unforgettable Experiences, Your employees are the best, the worst, the craziest or the most serious- but they're always there when you need them and that's what counts.

Aviation Ordnanceman (Current Employee) –  Seattle, WAMarch 25, 2019
Maybe a career for some but I want to explore other career options. Work days are stressful, a lot of micro managing. Have to be willing to comply to all orders no matter the rank.

Everyone has different experiences. Take the time out and go to a recruiters office if you are intrested, some will love it some won't. The most enjoyable part is meeting new people from all over the world.

Stressful
Aviation Ordnanceman (Former Employee) –  Lemoore Naval Air Station, CAMarch 5, 2019
Work day is stressful. If you only care about the mission then it is recommended. It is really hard on family and down time. The pay is not equal to the hours you put in because it is salary.
